Shaking the family tree for Griffith's & Stacey/Stacy

{census needed}{1812/18/19 Griffith & Stacys} {1830 Griffith's & Stacys}{contact me}

I am looking for descendants of Jonas Griffith born ca. 1734 Wales.  It has been written that he came to America about 1750 with older brothers "DAVID" & "JOHN", and that JONAS GRIFFITH born ca. 1734 married and had 3 sons whom he named one "JONAS" after himself, and named the other two "DAVID" & "JOHN" after his two older brothers.

In 1787 a Jonas Griffith is in Burke Co.N.C., and a Jonas Griffith in Ky, then to Jackson Co.Tn. where our Rebecca (Griffith) Stacy born 1805 originated from prior to settling in Green Co.Mo. with her husband William Stacy, her son Silas Scruggs Stacy who was born 1827 in GainsBoro, Jackson Co.Tn., and their son "Jonas" Stacy who was born 1828 in Illiniois.

1820 Jackson Co.Tn. census                                                                       1830 Jackson Co.Tn. census

Jonas Griffith (head of household) 45/up (b.ca.????-1775)                   Jonas Griffith head of household 40/50 (b.ca.1780-1790)
1 male 26/45 b.ca. (1775-1794)                                                                    1 female 20/30 b.ca. 1800-1810
1 female 10/16 (b.ca.1804-1810                                                                   3 males 15/20 b.ca. 1810-1815
1 female 10/16 b.ca. 1804-1810                                                                    2 females 15/20 b.ca.1810-1815
1 female 10/16 b.ca.1804-1810                                                                     2 males 10/15 b.ca. 1815-1820
1 male 0/10 b.ca. 1810/1820                                                                          2 males 5/10 b.ca. 1820-1825
1 male 0/10 b.ca.1810-1820                                                                           2 males 0/5 b.ca. 1825-1830
1 male 0/10 b.ca. 1810-1820                                                                          1 female 0/5 b.ca. 1825-1830

The 1820 census reads, Jonas Griffith 45 up,                         This is possibly the male listed as 26/45 with Jonas in 1820 c.
1 male 26/45, 3 females 10/16 & 3 males 0/10                        Question: are some of these children his brothers sister
                                                                                                                                    or are they his children.

From the 1820 & 1830 census finding on these Jonas Griffith's, it appears that the old Jonas Griffith listed on the 1820 census as 45/up most likely died after the 1820 census and prior to the 1830 census when we find the younger "Jonas" Griffith as head of the household.  Is the younger Jonas Griffith raising his younger brother's and sister's, or was the children listed in the 1820 census children of Jonas Griffith b.ca. 1780-1790.

There seems to be additional children listed on the 1830 census under Jonas Griffith b.ca. 1780-1790 which were not listed on the 1820 census under old Jonas.  Did Jonas Griffith,Jr, marry a woman who also had children ????

Was our Rebecca  Griffith b.ca. 1805 the daughter of Old Jonas Griffith, or the Jonas Griffith, Jr.?  If Jonas Griffith, Jr. is raising his younger brothers and sisters, then he is missing one girl in the 1830 census which is most likely our Rebecca Griffith.

From the information written in H.H. Griffith's letter in 1921, H.H. Griffith was born in 1850 GainsBoro, Jackson Co.Tn., the son of Samuel Teeter Griffith b.ca. 1822, who was the son of DAVID GRIFFITH, b.ca.1789, who was the son of Jonas Griffith b. ca.1734.

If any one has the 1850 Jackson Co.Tn. census finding on David Griffith and his son's that are listed it would help in placing their year's of birth.  We also need the 1840 Jackson Co.Tn. census on the Griffith's and the Stacys.
