Johnson Goswick/Gossett was son of George and Rebecca (Boone) Goswick of Franklin Co. N.C.. George Goswick had died before Johnson was born in 1812 but he did mention in his will "the child my wife is now pregnant with". In 1816 Rebecca Goswick (widow) re-married a James Goswick and by 1840 they are all living in Union Co.S.C. and listed as "Gossett".

This is as far back as my Mom was able to go - the records had been
destroyed in a fire - she thinks that Henry's father was named Johnson -
which seems to line up with what I've been able to find on the web.

The 1900 census shows that Joseph and Delia had been married 12 years, 3 children, 3 living. Note year of birth does not match with age. Census takers were noted for incorrect 'deductions' of ages and years born.

Delia Wimberly Gossett is buried in Cunningham Cemetery in McMinn Co., TN with no dates on her marker. Her son Joe is buried there with dates 02 Feb 1894 - 19 Oct 1918. He died in New York from pneumonia on his way home from WW I. Her son, Wallace, is also buried there, but with no dates (Thank you Linda)
