Hounsfield, Jefferson County, New York

The Sulphur Springs Cemetery is just down the road from Stowell's Corners in Hounsfield, and across the street from the Methodist Church (that used to be the Seventh Day Baptist Church). There are quite a few Halls buried there, as well as families of their neighbors from Stowell's Corners. The following pictures and inscriptions were taken in 1994 by Kelly Hokkanen.

Hiram and Emeline Hall

Left: "Hiram Hall, died April 26, 1835, in the 33 year of his Age". [Hiram was the son of Samuel Hall and Anna Ives of Madison County]
Right: "Emeline F., wife of Cornelius Inglehart. Formerly relic of Hiram Hall. Died Dec. 2, 18[38], Age 48 yrs, 9 mos, 19 days." [Emeline Foote] [Year of death uncertain, may be 1858]
Next to them (not pictured): "Reuben Hall 1833-1911" [son of Hiram and Emeline Hall]

Sophia A., Mandana, and Ira Hall

Left: "Sophia A., daughter of Ira & Mandana Hall. Died March 12, 1878, aged 34 yrs, 10 mo., 5 days."
Center: "Our Mother. Mandana wife of Ira Hall. Died Sep. 8, 1885, age 72 yrs 1 mo & 3 days." [Mandana Swift]
Right: "Ira Hall. Died April 19, 1879, aged 78 yrs 7 mo 23 days."

[Julia Ives was the daughter of Joel Ives (1806-1871) and Mary Ingalls; granddaughter of Erastus Ives (1780-1828) and Lucy Paine of Connecticut. Erastus Ives was Anna (Ives) Hall's brother. Thus, Julia would have been a cousin of Ira Hall. Her husband was Solomon Hall - I am not sure if or how he was related to our Halls.]
