Notes
Some researchers have his parents as Micajah Clark and Luranna Johnson
Many researchers have William and Sarah as the William and Sarah Anderson Clark who lived in Louisa County Virginia in the early 1800's. I have doubts about that. Louisa County deed records (Book M p183) identify Sarah Clark, wife of William Clark and daughter of Richard Anderson, as living in Woodford County, KY in 1812. The 1810 and 1820 censuses show a William Clark/Clarke over 45 years old living in Woodford County. But we know from our William's will that he was in Union County in 1824. The 1810 census shows a William Clarke (45+) in Henderson County, predecessor of Union County. The 1820 census shows William Clark (45+) in Union County. Also, our William's son Aquilla said in 1850 he was born about 1807 in South Carolina and the Woodford Clarks appear to have been in Virginia until 1809 (see Louisa Deed record Book L, p 266 and Book M p 15). While it is possible to make a case for the Louisa County connection, it is a tenuous one and I suspect that these are two different families.4
