Notes
It is widely held that Absalom's wife (Nicholas' mother) was Sarah Jones. If true, this is probably the Sarah Copeland who was living with Nicholas in 1850 and the Sarah Jones Copeland who died in Marshall County in 1855.
Some researchers believe that Serilda was a daughter of Nicholas and Sarah Rilley Copeland, and there is a female of the right age range listed with them in the 1840 census, but her death certificate lists her parents as William and Jane Copeland. I haven't identified this William and Jane Copeland.
