Joao (John) married Josephina de Souza (See Souza) June 3, 1901 in Waipahu, Oahu, Hawaii. Josephina was the daughter of Francisco de Souza and Maria Marks of Madeira; she was born February 19, 1886 in Kohala, Hawaii, and died January 2, 1926 in Waialua, Honolulu, Hawaii.
Manuel de Freitas, son of Manuel de Freitas, was a soldier in Madeira; he born about 1846 in Santa Cruz, Madeira, Portugal. Maria de Jesus de Nobrega was the daughter of Francisco de Nobrega and Maria de Jesus. She was born about 1847 in Canico, Madeira, Portugal.
