Elmer Walker, 70, a resident of Sapulpa but well known in the Okmulgee area, passed away Friday, July 1, 2005 in Hillcrest Medical Center. He was born Nov. 12, 1934 in Wetumka to Talmadge and Flora (Vaden) Walker.

He was a retired auto mechanic and served the city of Sapulpa as an auxiliary police officer for 18 years.

Preceding him in death were his parents, four children, four brothers and one sister.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years Levertha (Bird) Walker, of the home, daughter Angela O. Walker, of Sapulpa; three brothers Nuland Walker, of Wichita, Kan., Austin Walker, of Sapulpa, and Clarence Walker, of Las Vegas; one sister Zenobia Walker, of Las Vegas; along with numerous relatives and friends.

A service of memory will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2005 in Greater Jones AME Zion Church, 1226 E. Smith, St., Okmulgee. The Rev. John Wesley Forbes III will delivery the eulogy. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of House of Winn Funeral Home.

Mr. Walker will lie-in-state from noon to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
