HERMAN ARVEL ALSTON

Herman Arvel Alston was born March 15, 1925 to Jack and Zelma Alston in Okemah and passed away Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005 in Sapulpa.

He worked for KO&G Railroad after serving in the U.S. Army. He then worked at Eagle Picher in Henryetta, also Oklahoma Steel and Casting and finally retired from FABSCO in Sapulpa.

Herman was preceded in death by his mother Zelma Alston; father Jack Alston; and three brothers, Billy, Jesse and Ray Alston.

He is survived by his wife Oleta Alson, of the home; two sisters Clora Jane Alston and Kathryn King and husband Hugh; brother James and wife Dorothy Haney; two sons Verdel Ray Alston, and Jimmie L. Alston and wife Patricia; grandchildren Jeff Alston, Deanna Garrette and husband Dellan, Jimmie Alston, Jr., Mike Alston and wife Wilma, Christine Key and husband Jody; and great-grandchildren, James and Thomas Black, Meagan and Jordan Alston, Brittany and Matthew Alston, Jimmy Dean Lambert, Logan Lambert and Ashley Charboneau.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005 at the First Baptist Church of Schulter in Schulter. Burial will follow at Westlawn Cemtery in Henryetta with the Rev. George Christy officiating.

Casket bearers will include Steve Saunders, Wendell Saunders, Mike Alston, Jody Key, Jimmie Alston Jr. and Charles Holt. Honorary Bearers will be Dr. T. Ramsey, Jeff Alston, Verdel Alston and Mike West.

The family has chosen to entrust the care of the services to the directors at Green Hill Funeral home in Sapulpa.
