James Oscar Binns, Jr., 72, known to his friends and family as J.O. and Jody passed away Monday, Oct. 3, 2005 at The Forum Health Center in Dallas.

J.O. was born July 1, 1933, in Kellyville to James Oscar Binns, Sr. and Alma Coleman Binns. He graduated from Kellyville High School in 1951 and then went on to serve his country for four years in the United States Air Force. While in the Air Force he was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base in Mid West City, and Elmdorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska. J.O. then graduated from Gupton-Jones Institute of Mortuary Science in Dallas. After a brief period, he decided to begin a new career in the insurance industry, where he worked his entire life and later retired from Hartford Insurance Company.

J.O. married Elnora Hamilton, of Ardmore, Dec. 30, 1964 and they lived in Farmers Branch, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents James Oscar, Sr. and Alma Coleman Binns; one brother Charles Lee "Chuck" Binns; one sister Alma Jean "Jeannie" Binns Lewis; and one niece Cathy Binns Fox.

He is survived by his wife Elnora Hamilton Binns, of the home; one son Dr. Derk Douglas Binns, of Dallas; sister Carmeleta A. Smith, of Oklahoma City; sister and brother-in-law Reba and Jack Nitz of Tulsa; sister Margaret "Peggy" Blue, of Joplin; sister and brother-in-law Judith "Judy" and Bill McAnulty, of Kellyville; and in-laws Claude Hamilton of Ardmore, Ann and Bob Carrell of Ardmore, and Elrena Smith, of Ardmore.

J.O. was loved and will be greatly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family.

Funeral services are planned for 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2005 at the Rosehill Cemetery, (Ardmore City Cemetery) under the direction of Craddock Funeral Home. The services will be conducted by the Rev. Robert Fosburgh, of Dixon, Texas, a life long friend and classmate of J.O.
