John E. Ruppel Sr., 76, of Mounds, and formerly of Beardstown, Ill., died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005 at St. John Sapulpa.

He was born March 25, 1929 in Beardstown, Ill., the son of August Henry and Sarah E. Moore Ruppel. He married Freeda May Hall Oct. 23, 1947. She survives him in Mounds.

Also surviving are three sons: John E. Ruppel Jr. and wife Vickie, of Beardstown, Ill.; Don Ruppel and wife Roberta, of Sapulpa; and Tom Ruppel and wife Sharon, of Fountain, Colo.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles Ruppel and wife Edna, of Bolingbrook, Ill.; and his half-sister Ella Mae Trier of Washington, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother William Ruppel; and two half-brothers, Hank and Virgil Ruppel.

John was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Bluff Springs, Ill. He farmed his entire life in Cass County, Ill. until his retirement when he and his wife moved to Oklahoma.

Funeral services for John will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, at the Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown, Ill.

The family will meet with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials have been suggested to St. John's Lutheran Church in Bluff Springs, Cass/Schuyler Area Hospice, or American Heart Association.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown, Ill.
