Joseph "Joe" B. Mills died Monday, Sept. 26, 2005 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa. He was 57 years of age.

Joe was born Sept. 17, 1948 in Tulsa to Boyd Gordon and Alta Mae Simms Mills.

Joe was a 1967 graduate of Broken Arrow High School and attended two years at Tulsa Junior College. He served in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart Award. He was a commercial painter for Paragon Painting, Inc. for more than 10 years. He lived in the Tulsa, Broken Arrow and Sapulpa areas all of his life. He enjoyed classic cars and outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of June Rose Assembly of God.

He is survived by daughters Katie and husband Jake Wynn, of Sand Springs, Michelle and husband Justin Southerland, of Glenpool; grandson Boyd Alan Wynn; mother Alta Mills, of Broken Arrow; sisters Peggy and husband Howard Summers, of Broken Arrow, Linda and husband Larry Allen, of Leonard, Vickie and husband Ken Foster, of Tulsa; brother Ken Foster, of Tulsa; brother Mike and wife Sandy Mills, of Broken Arrow; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Boyd Mills.

Funeral services for Joe have been scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30, 2005 at Hayhurst Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Arrow. The Rev. Rich Young will officiate. Burial will follow at Park Grove Cemetery in Broken Arrow under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home.
