RICHARD S. "DICK" BARTLETT

Richard S. "Dick" Bartlett passed away Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005 at home in Sapulpa at the age of 71. Dick was born Oct. 7, 1933 to Clarence and Vada Shields Bartlett in Bartlesville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Mary Louise Harper; granddaughter Lindsey Marie Pickett; and brother-in-law Charles "Chuck" Kintzinger.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn of the home; two sons Richard and wife Kim, of Tulsa, and Paul and wife Cathy, of Locust Grove; two daughters Diane, of Tulsa, and Sherri and husband Chris Pickett, of Pevely, Mo.; two stepchildren Jenny and husband Billy Long and Jeff and wife Traci Ellis, all of Sapulpa; six grandchildren Jeffrey, Daniel, Laura and John Bartlett, Christine and Lauren Pickett; six stepgrandchildren Jarrod Ellis, Haley and Hannah Long, Nicole, Jonathan and Darren Henson; one great-granddaughter Sierra Dawn Bartlett; two brothers David and Mary, of Houston, Texas, and Rob and Linda, of Oklahoma City; one sister Martha Jean Kintzinger, of Dubuque, Iowa; nephews Robbie, Kevin, Drew and Bart; nieces Barbara, Carol, Judith Elaine, Karen; and Donna and his amazing care giver Jayme Collins.

Dick graduated from High School in Miami in the class of 1951 and attended NEO. He then served in the United States Army from October 1953 to October 1955, stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. Dick was a Boy Scout Master from 1967 to 1973. He was a volunteer counselor with Youth Services of Tulsa from 1972 to 1974. Dick was one of the founding members of the Run for Your Life Program at Whiteside Park in Tulsa. He was commodore at Windy Crest Sailing Club 1977. He was employed with General Motors Acceptance Corp for 37 years, retiring in 1992. Dick was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tulsa.

Dick loved to sail, play golf and garden until he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2000. He fought a long and courageous battle for five years after being diagnosed with this horrible, horrible disease. His warm hugs, tender kisses and a smile that could light the darkest night are going to be profoundly missed by all who had the pleasure and honor of knowing him.

Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005 at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel with burial at 2 p.m. in Westville at the Foreman Family Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Art Reinhardt, Bob Johnson, Craig Blockstock, John Clark, Jerry Dickerson and Don Massey.

The family has requested donations in Dick's memory be made to Grace Hospice, The Alzheimer's Association or the American Heart Association.

The family has chosen to entrust the care of the services to the directors at Green Hill Funeral Home.
