HOME BUILDER ROY ROBBINS DIES AT 72

Roy J. Robbins, owner of HODCO Construction, died Wednesday. He was 72.

Services are under the direction of Mobley-Dodson Funeral Home of Sand Springs. Family visitation is set for 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, with a service at 10 a.m. Monday, both at the funeral home.

Born in Mannford on Feb. 6, 1932, he graduated from Sand Springs High School and attended the Univeristy of Tulsa, graduating in 1954. He was a four-year letterman on the TU basketball team.

After graduation, he served in the Army where he was stationed in Orleans, France, until 1956.

In 1958, he married Diane Sheppard. The couple founded House of Decorating in 1967 and 10 years later he started a home-building business, HODCO Construction, in Sand Springs.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Roann Thies and her husband, Danny, of Jenks; a son, Barry Robbins and his wife, Kathy, of Plano, Texas; two brothers, Ted Robbins and his wife Nancy, of Longview, Texas, and Jerry Smith and his wife, Pam, of Kellyville; and two grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made on his behalf to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Simeon's Adult Day Services of Tulsa.
