Louise P. Coatney, 71, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005. She was born April 19, 1933 in the Cushing area to Van and Gracie Petitt.

Louise met and later married Charlie Coatney Sr. They were married 52 wonderful years. She lived in Sapulpa most of her life. Louise loved the Lord and enjoyed spending time in church up until the time she was no longer able to attend.

Louise is survived by her husband Charlie Sr., of the home; children Ricky Coatney, of Sapulpa, Charlie Coatney Jr. and his wife Linda, of Sapulpa, Terry Coatney and his wife Kim, of Sapulpa, Gary Coatney and his wife Sandy, of Sapulpa, and Kathy Burns and her husband Jim; grandchildren Heath Coatney, Charlie Coatney III, Terry Coatney Jr., Kyle Burns, Joseph Coatney, Daniel Coatney and Heather Coatney. She is also survived by one sister Juanita Childress, of Sapulpa.

She was preceded in death by her parents Van and Gracie Petitt; brother and sisters Cecilia Moore, Roy Petitt, Jewel Petitt, Edith Gardner, Lily Johnson, Norma Petitt, and Marvin Petitt; and one grandchild Austin Burns.

Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

BALLWEG -- Thersa Jeane, age 81, departed this life on Monday, February 16, 2004 in Tulsa. She was born on June 5, 1922 to Roy Samuel and Frances Esther Cobbs in Sapulpa, OK. She lived most of her life in the Tulsa, Bartlesville and Oklahoma City areas. Thersa was a 1939 graduate of Sapulpa High School and a 1940 graduate of Tulsa Business College. She married Gus Ballweg on April 27, 1943 in Muskogee, OK. Thersa served as a Pastor's Secretary at First Baptist Church in Bartlesville and in numerous volunteer positions. She was a member of the Evergreen Baptist Church in Tulsa and enjoyed traveling. Thersa was a Christian and life-long Baptist who was devoted to her husband and family and the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gus Ballweg. Thersa is survived by her children, Carol Smith and husband, Steve of Broken Arrow, D. Brent Ballweg and wife, Susan of Oklahoma City; grandchildren Jeremy, Matthew and Miranda Smith; brother, Roy Cobbs. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2004 at the Floral Haven Mausoleum Chapel with entombment at the Floral Haven Mausoleum. Floral Haven, 252-2518.

Alice Doris Henry Cochran

Alice Doris Henry Cochran died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, in Tulsa at the age of 85.

She was born in Guthrie Feb. 8, 1919, to Joseph Cline Inskeep and Callie Lee Inskeep. She had lived in Bristow since 1929, coming with her parents as a young 10-year-old girl. She had worked as a floor supervisor with the Gossard Garment Company in Bristow until she was in her 70s. After her retirement from Gossard, she was the site supervisor for the Senior Citizens Creek County Nutrition Program.

Alice was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bristow for more than 50 years and the First Baptist Church of Sapulpa. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Hobby Club. She also loved church work, sewing, cooking, gardening, fishing and ranching.

Alice is survived by two sons, Bill Henry and wife Dovie, of Barnsdall, and Don Henry and wife Lorraine, of Lone Star, Texas; one daughter Karen Cook and husband Max, of Sapulpa; seven grandchildren, Darlene Mailes and husband Gary, Marcella Thompson and husband Donnie, Michelle Romero and husband Rayland, Allan Henry and wife Brittny, Alisa Paige and husband Brian, Billy Cook and Alyson Cook; ten great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husbands William Howard Henry and Roy Cochran, daughter Murdell Snyder, granddaughter Cynthian Ann Aaron, two sisters and five brothers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Building for Life fund at the First Baptist Church of Sapulpa.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004, at the First Bapitst Church in Sapulpa with the Revs. Mike Doudican and Doyle Pryor officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Memorial Gardens in Bristow.

COHEN, Jean K. -- 75, passed away on January 1, 2004. Jean was born September 11, 1928 in Tulsa, OK. She was the daughter of Ralph R. Kirchner and Ruth Sidebottom Kirchner of Bristow, OK. She grew up in Bristow, attended Oklahoma State University and graduated from Washburn University. Jean was a Certified Public Accountant and a Fiber Artist. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She was past President of the Mulvane Art Board, a founder of the Kansas Wildflower Society, a member of the Shawnee County Medical Auxiliary, the Board of Directors of The United Way of Greater Topeka, the Topeka Hand Weavers and the Topeka Knitters. She was honored two times as the Topeka Woman of the Year. She was also the first woman to be elected to the Kansas Board of Accountancy. She is survived by her stepmother, Maree Kirchner, Bristow, OK; her husband, Louis Cohen, M.D., Topeka; 2 stepsons, Bill Cohen, Levelland, TX and Rob Cohen, Estes Park, CO; a niece, Sarah Thomas Wood, Arlington, TX; 3 stepgrandsons and 2 cousins. Jean will lie in state on Sunday from noon until 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Service will be at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th St., Topeka KS 66604 at 3 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2004. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Irene Coley. 91, of Tulsa, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa.

Irene, a former Sapulpa resident, moved to Tulsa in 1990. She had retired from Liberty Glass where she was a receptionist and worked the switch board.

She was a member of the Rose Unit Garden Club of Sapulpa. She was a former longtime member of the First Christian Church of Sapulpa and a current member of the Jenks First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Nola (Richard) Saner.

Survivors are her daughters, Karen Fleming and her husband, Don, of Bartlesville, and Linda Anderson and her husband, Dr. Lloyd Anderson, of Tulsa; grandchildren Paula and Kelvin Dick, Stephen and Kahle Wilson, Todd Anderson, Millany and Jason Behrman, Karl and Spencer Fisher; great-grandchildren Kaden Wilson and Taylor Behrman; one brother, Earl Saner, of Wichita, Kan.; a special niece, Carlene, and her husband, Bruce Worley, of Muskogee; and many nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services will be held Friday morning, Oct. 10, 2003 in Green Hill Memorial Gardens.

Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2003 in the First Baptist Church in Jenks with Dr. Glen Plum officiating.

Calvin Collins Jr.

Calvin Collins Jr. 65, died May 5, 2002 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa after a brief illness.

Mr. Collins was born May 30, 1936 in Tyler, Texas to C.C. and Pauline Collins.

He graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1954 and attended Oklahoma A&M College.

Over 50 years ago, Calvin and his father established Honey Valley Nursery. He was very active and involved with the First United Methodist Church serving on and chairing various committees throughout the years.

Mr. Collins will be sorely missed by his church family. He was truly a pillar of the community. He was an avid supporter of civic causes and activities. He served on the City Commission, Chamber of Commerce, and past president of the Jaycees. He was active in Boy Scouting while his sons were growing up and, at the time of his death, he was serving on the board for Troop 225.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Locker Room. He was an active supporter of Sapulpa Schools and their students. He was always willing to lend a hand, offer advice and help with donations.

He was ad avid outdoorsman. He truly enjoyed spending time at his cabin in the woods, where he provided sanctuary and food for deer, turkey, birds and fish.

He was a man of character and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, church and community. He was preceded in death by his parents C.C. and Pauline Collins and an infant brother, Anthony B. Collins.

Survivors include his wife of almost 45 years, Maryetta, his sons and daughters-in-law Perry and Terri Collins and Trey and Johnna Collins, all of Sapulpa. Calvin adored his two grandchildren, Tucker and Cassidey Collins, also of Sapulpa.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2002 in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike Asher officiating.

Interment will follow in Green Hills Memorial Gardens under the direction of the Smith Funeral Home.

Serving as casketbearers will be Jerry Sivadon, John Wilcox, Bill Vanarsdel, Junior Keeling, Steve Welter and Pete Egan.

Honorary bearers will be Clifford Baker, Don Dufford, H.L. Payne and Jerry Dickerson.

Dwayne Hank Colvin

Dwayne Hank Colvin went to be with his Savior Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004, at the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home at the age of 71.

Dwayne was born May 5, 1933 in Kiefer and lived in this area all of his life. He had served in the U.S. Army and was an independent certified welding inspector. He was a graduate of Kiefer High School in 1951 and a member of Open Door Fellowship Church.

Dwayne Hank Colvin was a unique and valuable human being who has done a lot for other people. He had a big heart and had given of himself to help others in an unselfish way.

Dwayne was a Bible school graduate who had worked for the Open Door Fellowship in the facilities department for several years. He helped people every chance he could during the week and on Sundays at the church.

During the week he drove a school bus for the Sapulpa School District. Dwayne always asked for the bus routes that no other drivers wanted. He took the challenge of helping wayward and needy children that were too difficult for the other drivers. Dwayne would befriend, counsel, and minister to the needs of the kids on his buses and protect those that had been picked on or threatened. Dwayne was always positive and cheerful, lifting the spirits of those he worked around.

Survivors are his children Linda Wilsford and husband Paul, of Mounds, James Colvin and wife Donna, of Sand Springs, David Colvin, of Sapulpa, and Lisa McGuire and husband Kenny, of Kiefer; grandchildren Kathryn Bean, Heather Colvin and Lacey McGuire; and uncle Loyd Putman, of Mounds.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004 in the South Heights Cemetery Chapel with the Rev. Ira Hargis officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

James "Jim" A. Conely

Funeral services for James A. Conley will be held Wednesday March 19, 2003 at 10 a.m. at Blue Bell Free Will Baptist Church with burial to follow at Green Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Monday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Mr. Conley died March 16, 2003 at his residence. He was born March 17, 1931 in Ada to Joseph and Versa Conley. He was the third of five children.

He married Ruth Campbell on Nov. 10, 1951. They lived in Sapulpa first then moved to Kellyville in 1963.

He worked 32 years at Liberty Glass and retired from there. He also operated a family farm in Kellyville.

In past years he was an active member of the Blue Bell Free Will Baptist Church.

James was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife Ruth, of the home; five sons, Gary and Teri Conley, of Kellyville, James and Leta Conley, of Bixby, Tim and Terry Conley, of Perkins, Tom and Donnetta Conley, of Kellyville, and Danny and Brenda Conley, of Sapulpa. There are 14 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and four siblings, Julius and Ethel Conley, of Bristow, Ida Mae and Floyd Glover, of Duncan, Joe Jr. and Jessie Conley of Sapulpa, and Mary and Carl Thompson, of Broken Arrow.

Green Hill Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

CONLEY -- Robert Gene, US Navy, retired, passed away at home west of Mannford, OK September 3, 2004 of cancer at the age of 68. He was known for his strong character and caring personaolity. Robert was born July 12, 1936 in New Martinsville, WV to Ethel and Earl Conley of Reader, WV. He enlisted in the US Navy after graduation from Magnolia High School and served during the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts, retiring with the rank of Chief Radioman after 20 years of continuous service with 10 years of reserves to our country. He worked for Unit Rig for 20 years until he retired in 2001. Robert married his high school sweetheart, Eloise Cook and had 2 sons, Richard and Kevin. Later he married Angela Sell and enjoyed 26 years of marriage until his passing. He is survived by: his wife, Angela of Mannford; his first wife, Eloise Davis of Broken Arrow, OK; brothers, Charles; sons, Richard of Cedar Hill, TX, Kevin of Lewisville, TX and William Sell of The Woodlands, TX; daughters, Patty Odom of Broken Arrow, OK and Sandra Stiles of Pryor, OK; grandchildren, Chris, Josh, Katherine, Jonathan, Sarah, Caitlin and Grayson Conley, Nick and Amber Junger, Angela, Ashley, Jesse and Audrey Graham, Tyler and Megan Sell; and 4 great-grandchildren. Robert received numerous honors in the Navy, including 3 Navy Achievement Medals for his services in Vietnam. He was respected by all that knew him for his hard work and determination. Alice was born July 6, 1914 in Meredosia, Ill. to George and Nellie Stone. She attended Central High School in Oklahoma City and married Kenneth F. Cook in 1934.

Alice was a member of the Eastern Star in Oklahoma City. After moving to Sapulpa, she was a Blue Bird leader in the 1960s. She also joined the Lady Elks and was an active member for 20 years. She enjoyed being a homemaker and was known for her pies.

Alice is survived by her loving husband Kenneth; children Kenneth and Chris Cook, of Park Hill, Don and Pat Farrar, of Pottsboro, Texas, Jim and Susan Meyer, of Sapulpa; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The family has chosen to entrust the care of the services to the directors at Green Hill Funeral Home.

Charley Cook

Charley Cook died Thursday, May 20, 2004 in Tulsa at the age of 67.

He was born in Bristow on May 16, 1937 to Charles Jefferson Cook and Myrtle Hall Cook. He lived in the Bristow area all of his life and graduated from Bristow High School in 1957. He married Mary Lou Standefer on December 25, 1960.

Charley took techincal training and was a police officer with the Bristow Police Department for more than 20 years before his retirement. He also had worked for Bolin Ford.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and a former member of the Odd-Fellows. He enjoyed fishing, making doll houses, tinkering and auto repair.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Charles Pete, and mom Joyce Cook.

Charley is survived by his wife, Mary, of the home; one daughter, Shela Dawn and husband Greg McGuire, of Kellyville; one sister, Irma Joyce Giddeon and husband Dewey, of Stillwater; two grandchildren, Kristin and Broc McGuire; mother-in-law Helen Standefer, of Kellyville, and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. today at Magnolia Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Dallas Arnell officiating. Interment will follow in Magnolia Memorial Gardens.

Hazel U. Cook, of Kiefer, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003 at St. John Medical Center. She was born Feb. 1, 1909 in Macon County, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter S. Cook, and grandson, Johnny Fondren.

She was a member of OES for 50 years and served as worthy matron and grand warder. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sapulpa. She retired from St. John Medical Center in 1974.

Survivors include her sons, Walter S. Cook Jr., of Baldwyn, Miss., and Dr. Charles Cook, of Poteau; daughters, Gwen Fondren, of Tulsa, Joe Ann Reeves of Catoosa, and Barbara Bodenstein of Kiefer; 15 grandchilren; 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services are at 2 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Clarence Bigler officiating. Graveside services are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003 at Olympia Cemetery in Grove with the Rev. Sara Bodenstein officiation.

MAVIS LORENE COOPER

Mavis Lorene Cooper was born March 26, 1928 in Tuskegee to Isaac and Florence Mae (Smith) Hammons. She departed from this life Friday, Oct. 3, 2003 in Tulsa at the age of 75 years, six months and seven days.

Mrs. Cooper was a resident of the Bristow area for most of her life. She married Andrew Cooper, devoted husband for 53 years, on Nov. 12, 1949 in Bristow.

In her spare time, Mrs. Cooper enjoyed gardening, crocheting and sewing. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

Survivors include her husband, Andrew Cooper, of the home; three sons, Ralph Cooper of Depew, Bobby Cooper and Randy Cooper, both of Bristow; three daughters, Ida Nix, of Delaware, Ark., Teresa Cooper and Anita Cooper, both of Bristow; three sisters, Delores Alsup and Jackie Bigler, both of Stillwater, and Edith Rodrigues, of Nacogdoches, Texas; one brother, Lloyd Hammons, of Bristow; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one half sister, Marie.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Bristow Christian Center with the Rev. Gene Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Bristow City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hutchins-Maples Funeral Home.

Mildred Berryhill Copeland

Mildred Berryhill Copeland, of Sapulpa, died Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at the age of 86. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2003 at Smith Funeral Home. The Rev. Dan Caldwell, pastor of Full Gospel Baptist Church will officiate.

She was born July 11, 1916 in Kiefer to parents Carl Berryhill and Dessie Jones Berryhill. She lived in Sapulpa and the surrounding area all her life. She was a faithful member of Full Gospel Baptist church and served as the church treasurer for 20 years. She taught Sunday School all her adult life until her health caused her to quit.

She attended high school in Beggs and married Carl Copeland in 1932. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as an operator for 27 years. She retired in 1974. After her retirement she devoted most of her time to her family and her church.

Mildred loved her family and had a great love for missionary causes around the world. She helped build Christian schools and churches in Argentina and supported missionaries in Argentina, Paraguay and Mexico.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband Carl, who passed away in 1981.

She is survived by her daughters, Nancy McCullough and Dessa Hammontree; her sisters, Thelma Baughn, of Carmi, Ill., and Virginia Peck and her husband Bill, of Sapulpa; two grandsons, Ric Barnes and his wife Julie and Tim Barnes, all of Sapulpa; and two great-grandsons, Joseph Barnes and Jonathan Barnes, of Sapulpa. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Barnes, Jon Barnes, Gary Blodget, Kevin Caldwell, Bill Warn and Von Hopper.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to St. Francis Hospice, 6600 S. Yale, No. 350 Warren Clinic Tower, Tulsa, Okla. 74136. Smith Funeral Service is in charge of all arrangements.

Pauline was born in Bristow, Oklahoma, April 13, 1921, and left this life August 15, 2002, with 5 generations of her family gathered by her side. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Perry Copeland.

Pauline moved with her parents and 13 siblings from Oklahoma to Shafter, CA, when she was 13. Following her marriage to Perry they moved their home to Wasco where they raised their four children. Pauline was an active participant in the lives of her children and in her community. She served as PTA president of the grammar and high schools, was a Blue Bird and Camp Fire Girls leader. She is a life-time member and past president of the VFW Auxillary. She is a member of the Order of Eastern Star, a Past Matron and served as a Deputy Grand Matron.

Pauline's greatest hobby was her sewing. She had a fabric store in Wasco, "Pauline's Yardage," for over 20 years, then started the "Apparels of Pauline" designing and constructing as many as 1,200 evening gowns a year for members of the Order of Eastern Star. Pauline loved to work and always had several projects to keep she and Perry busy. She won many ribbons in the Kern County Fair for her quilts and hand crochet items.

Pauline and Perry moved to Wyoming in 1983, and built their own log home. They enjoyed entertaining their family and friends at their home there.

Pauline leaves a large family to mourn her passing: daughters, Beverly Jones and Paula Reel of Bakersfield, Donna Andrews and her husband, Harold of Auburn, Wyoming; and her son, James Copeland and wife, Maxine of Kingman, Arizona; sisters, Martha Regier of Wasco, CA, Aline Bryan of El Paso, Texas, Bernice Cerimeles, and husband, Gino of Chico, CA, Delores Brooks and husband, Cecil of Sierra Vista, Arizona; brothers, Victor Potts and wife, Thelma of Atwater, CA, Norman Potts and wife, Grace of Fillmore, CA, LeRoy Potts of Newark, CA, and Jim Potts and wife, Tina of Tulare, CA; 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren, and 40 nieces and nephews.

She was born June 7, 1918 in Kellyville and had lived there all her life. She retired from the Kellyville School lunch program.

She was a member of Westside Free Will Baptist Church in Sapulpa and the Kellyville Senior Citizens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Verbal Coplen.

She loved to embroidery and make quilts when not cooking or playing with her children and grandchildren. Crossword puzzles and Bible reading were always her pastimes. She was a faithful member of her church and was always there until her illness.

Survivors are her daughters, Norma Crall, of Sapulpa, Ailene Cornelison, of Weatherford, Texas, and Alene McKay, of Kellyville; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003 at the Westside Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Millard McGuire officiating. Interment will be in the Kellyville Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

Maria Katherine Coursey

Maria Katherine Coursey, 60, of Sapulpa died at the St. John Medical Center in Tulsa.

She was married to Elmer Coursey in 1960 in Germany while Elmer was serving in the U.S. Army. Maria worked for Wal-Mart for 21 years and truly enjoyed visiting with different customers there. She had a special love for all of them.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters and the Salvation Army.

She had two projects that were very dear to her, the Special Olympics and the Salvation Army Toy Drive. She devoted her heart and energy to these worthy causes.

She is preceded in death by one sister, Rita Correll.

She is survived by her husband Elmer of the home; one son Rogert Eugene Coursey, of Broken Arrow, and one daughter, Sandra Christine Sturgeon, of Kellyville; two granddaughters Erika Sturgeon and Ashley Sturgeon, both of Kellyville; her mother Christine Hirt of Germany; one sister, Hildegard Hilsheimer of Germany and numerous nephews and nieces also of Germany.

Mrs. Coursey will be missed by all of her loved ones and friends.

Funeral services have been set for 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Charles Hewawasam officiating.

Interment will follow in the South Heights Cemetery under the direction of the Smith Funeral Home.

John William Courtney

Memorial services for John William Courtney, 86, of Andover, Kan., formerly of Ada, are at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, 2004 at the First Presbyterian Church, Ada. The Rev. John D. Norvell will officiate.

Mr. Courtney died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004 at a nursing home in Andover, Kan. He was born June 29, 1918 in Muskogee to William A. and Golda Bailey Courtney. He graduated from Sapulpa High School and attended Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College in Stillwater before enlisting in the United States Army.

He served his counrty during World War II as a member of the United States Army 120th Medical Regiment 45th Division as as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. He was a navigator in the 384th Bomb Group 547th Bomb Squadron and served as an instructor in the Army Air Forces Navigation School.

He married Jacqueline Chadwick Feb. 6, 1942 in Abilene, Texas.

He was the store manager of the J.C. Penney's store in Ada from 1958 until he retired in 1978. He was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church and served both as deacon and an elder in the First Presbyterian Church, Ada.

Survivors include his wife Jacqueline Courtney; two daughters Sue C. Mayhue, Wichita, Kan., and Mary Lou Adams, Seattle, Wash.; one son Jay Chadwick Courtney, Grand Prairie, Texas; a sister Rosanna Courtney Egaas, Cambria, Calif.; four grandchildren Michelle Mayhue, Tulsa; John Courtney Adams, Seattle, Wash.; Lindsey Courtney and Shelby J. Courtney, Grand Prairie, Texas; and two great-grandsons, Garrett and Dalton Abney, Tulsa.

Gladys Marie Cowan

Gladys Marie Cowan, long time Mounds area resident, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa at the age of 87. She was born April 9, 1917 in Wellston to Linza and Martha (Wolf) Payne.

She moved to the Mounds area at a very young age and on Jan. 6, 1933 married David E. Cowan in Bartlesville. Gladys helped her husband on the farm and enjoyed quilting and worked on the election board for many years. She was a member of Mounds Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister Enid Mason, two brothers Louis Payne and Hubert Payne, and a son-in-law Sam Wadley.

Survivors include her daughter Davena Wadley, of Beggs; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild and two great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2004 at the Mounds Baptist Church with the Rev. Dick Knox officiating. Interment will follow in the Mounds Cemetery. Viewing will be 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2004 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.

Gloria W. Cox, 64, of Sand Springs, passed away Monday, April 26, 2004 at her home.

She was born Dec. 30, 1939 in Tulsa to J. C. and Dorothy Underwood Cox. She has lived in the Tulsa area all her life. She was employed as a day matron for the Trizec Maintenance Company.

She married Alton Cox May 11, 1957 in Tulsa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton, in 2001 and brother J. C. Coble.

Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Friday, April 30, 2004 at First Christian Church of Tulsa at 913 S. Boulder with the Rev. Randy Scott officiating.

Burial will follow at Duck Creek Cemetery east of Liberty Mounds.

Casket bearers are Ricky Ball, Larry Oliver, Perry Earby, Ralph Paige, Darrell Love and Brent Williams.

Indiola Crawford

Indiola Crawford went to be with the Lord on a beautiful and peaceful Sabbath morning, June 1, 2002 at the age of 61.

Mrs. Crawford was born at Wild Horse Prairie on Feb. 8, 1941. She married James Everett Crawford on Dec. 7, 1962 and they made their home together in Sapulpa during their 39 years of marriage.

She was a livetime member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and had an extraordinary love and belief in Jesus Christ and God the Father. She lived by the motto "Love thy neighbor as thy self."

Mrs. Crawford devoted her life to showing love, compassion, and forgiveness to all who knew her.

She always put the needs of others before her own. She received great joy for caring for her husband, her son, her daughter-in-law, her two grandchildren, and the 85 foster children she welcomed into her home over the years.

Her son will always remember her as the "world's unsung hero" while her twin sister said, "She was the best sister anyone could ever have and I will miss her very much."

She was preceded in death by her father, Jess Fraiser, and her mother, Mattie Frasier, her sister Iola Henry, a brother, Edward Frasier, her half-brother, Warren Potts, and her grandson, Dalton James Crawford.

Mrs. Crawford is survived by her husband, James Everett Crawford, one son, James Beau Crawford and his wife Angela and their children Jacee LeeAnn and Madelyn James of Sapulpa; her twin sister, Viola Dees of Tulsa; her sister Betty Matheson of Enid; nieces Kelly Demeter and Suzie Evertson, and many relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at the Smith Funeral Home in Sapulpa with the Rev. Henry Reid and the Rev. Marla G. Sanchez officiating.

Wade McCaskey, James Barrett, Charley Watson, Paul Mayberry, George Sanchez and Johnny Willingham will serve as casketbearers.

Honorary casketbearers will be Gary Culbert, Kenny Culbert, Darin Jones, Jeff Crawford, Rick Crawford and Clint Bailey.

Interment will follow the serivce at the Sunrise Cemetery west of Kellyville under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

Alice Faye Cross, 85, of Jefferson City, Mo. died Sunday, June 20, 2004 at Capital Region Medical Center. She was born July 14, 1918 in Sapulpa, a daughter of Orville Charles and Mayme Brentlinger Clark. She was a 1935 graduate of Sapulpa High School and graduated from Central State College in Edmond in 1939 with a bachelor of arts degree. In 1941 she received a master of arts degree from the University of Oklahoma. She was married March 23, 1941 in Sapulpa to Dr. Cecil E. Cross who preceded her in death Jan. 13, 1996.

She was the office manager for Dr. Cecil Cross's dental practice from 1956 until her retirement in 1991. She attended the First Church of Christ Scientist and was a member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants; Jane Randolph Jefferson Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution; Ohio Genealogical Society; Ann Hawkins Gentry Tent 17 of the Daughters of Union Veterans; the 1918 Cole County Historical Society and the Sapulpa Historical Society. She was also a member of the First Families of Ohio Missouri Association of Historic Route 66 and the Alden Kindred of America.

She is survived by two sons Steven Roger Cross, of Marietta, Ga. and Daniel Clark Cross, of Sacramento, Calif.

Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at the Houser Millard Funeral Directors - Jefferson City Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at the Houser Millard Funeral Directors - Jefferson City Chapel. Entombment will follow in the Hawthorn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

In his retirement he enjoyed gardening, bowling and full time golfing. He was preceded in death by: his parents; daughter, Teresa; and son-in-law, Glenn Calton. He is survived by: his wife, Ophelia; daughters, Saundra Lowe, Tulsa, Carmon Calton, Tulsa, Janice and husband, Ron King, Bixby; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Gertrude and husband, Roy Martin, Arkansas; and a host of other family members. Allene L. Crowe, 91, of Sapulpa, formerly of Tulsa, died Friday, Oct. 15, 2004. She was born April 2, 1913 in Jennings to Werner and Lynthia Lauener. She was married to Earle Crowe in 1930 who preceded her in death in 1998.

She graduated from Jennings High School in 1930 and received her bachelor of science degree from Central State University and master of science degree from Oklahoma State University. She was a retired educator with the Tulsa Public Schools and taught for 42 years.

She is survived by her son Curtis Crowe and wife Patricia, of Broken Arrow; daughter Susie Henderson and husband Lester, of Sapulpa; brother Dr. Loris Lauener and wife Betty, of Oklahoma City; three grandsons Craig Henderson and wife Angela and Scott Henderson and Greg Crowe; two granddaughters Cathy Rains and husband John, and Cristy Crowe-Goldberg and husband Jan and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Tulsa Seventh Day Adventist Church and a life member of both the State and National Education Association. The famly requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Tulsa Seventh Day Adventist Church Memorial Organ Fund or your favorite charity. A celebration of Allene's life will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004 under the direction of the Ninde Funeral Directors at the Ninde Garden Chapel, 3841 S. Peoria, Tulsa, OK, 742-5556.

Sapulpa lost an old friend Tuesday morning Aug. 30, 2005 when Leon Daniel Cue, 86, passed away. Leon was born in Tulsa and was a twin. He lived in the Sapulpa area most of his life. He met his wife Mary Dunback in Dec. of 1946 and they wed shortly after.

Leon went to the Oklahoma School of the Deaf in Sulfur and graduated in the top of his class. Leon and Mary had five children, four boys and one girl and raised them in Sapulpa. Leon and Mary owned and operated Persion Cleaners in Sapulpa and later worked at a cleaners in Tulsa. They retired to raise three children in the house that Leon built (when it came to fixin' or riggin' Leon wrote the book).

Leon and family would like to thank Mary Cenac for her love she had for Pops, also Towana Wadlow, Pam Wilson, of Oxford Health Care and Dr. James Russell and staff.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Myrtle Cue, wife of 35 years Mary Cue in 1981, brothers Ollie Cue, Roy Cue, twin brother Lloyd Cue and sister Ada Beck.

Leon is survived by his loving children David D. Cue, of Riverside, Calif., Danny R. Cue, of Sapulpa, Terry L. Cue of Sapulpa, Ollie A. Cue, of Sapulpa, and Alice J. Johnston, of Wynoka; five grandchildren Myles Cue, Susan Cruz, Benjamin Cue, Jennifer Forshee, Audrey Cue and Jordon Cypert; two great-grandchildren Benjamin Cue II, and Ashlyn Cue, also Nathan Cue soon to be born.

Many will miss him and many have been blessed to know him.

Services are 11 a.m. Friday Sept. 2, 2005 at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel.

WILLARD T. "BILL" CUMBEY

Willard T. "Bill" Cumbey was born Jan. 24, 1922 in Mounds to William Thomas and Mary Jane (Henson) Cumbey. He passed from this life Oct. 3, 2003 in Tulsa at the age of 81.

"Bill" had lived in the Mounds community for most of his life. His working years were spent as a farmer, owner/operator of a service station and garage and custodian for Mounds Schools. He was proud to have served his country as a member of the United States Army during World War II. He was a deacon at Mounds First Baptist Church and the last remaining charter member of the Mounds Lions Club.

He will forever be remembered as a hard working man that loved to garden and tend to his beloved roses.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Myrtle (Hutton) Cumbey, who he married Feb. 19, 1943 in Fayetteville, Ark.; one son, Robert Earl Cumbey, of Mounds; one daughter, Billie Ruth Hensley, and husband, Bob D. Sr., of Mounds; one sister, Arlene M. Wallace, of Mounds; two grandchildren, Bobby Dale Hensley Jr. and his wife, Denise, and Elizabeth Jane Hensley and two great-granddaughters, Megan and Lauren Hensley.

We was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jim and Chester Cumbey; one sister, Zella Smith, and three infant siblings.

Services are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003 at Mounds First Baptist Church with interment to follow in Mounds Cemetery with the Rev. Dick Knox officiating.

Casket bearers are Ed Smith, Bill Byard, Harold Gilbert, Tom Gilbert, Jerry Baird and Lee Cosby.

LOUISE L. CURLEY

Louise L. Curley, 77, of Sapulpa, passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at St. Simeon's after a very courageous battle with cancer.

Born Oct. 31, 1924 in Ardmore to John Luckey and Willie Byars, Mrs. Curley was an expert and largest dealer in Frankhoma pottery. During World War II, she worked in Washington, D.C. for the Pentagon and five years for the British Embassy.

She was a very independent woman, a maverick in her time.

She was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Madge Luckey, Mary Howard, Earl Luckey, Leo Luckey, Hershel Luckey and Clay Luckey.

She is survived by: her son, Luke Curley of Oklahoma City; her daughter, Merissa Curley of Tulsa; a sister, Marguerite Wright of Ft. Worth, Texas; and three grandchildren, Lauren Curley, Jacqueline Curley and Colin Curley.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in the Garden of Honor II at Green Hill Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Jeremy Skaggs will officiate.

Amelia Ann Curry, 63, of Mounds and Palm Springs, Calif., died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003 in Palm Springs.

She was born Dec. 3, 1939 to Walter F. Stolite and Amelia G. Stolite in New Orleans. She married John H. Curry Jr. on Aug. 2, 1959 in New Orleans.

She was a bank teller for 20 years and a homemaker throughout her life. She was a member of the Palm Spring Community Church and Mounds Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, John H. Curry Jr., of Mounds; daughters Missy Schick, of Carlsbad, Calif., and Bethany Curry, of Long Beach, Calif.; son John H. Curry III, of Morongo Valley, Calif.; sisters Alice Trinker, of Chicago, and Ida Illg, of Metairie, La.; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services are set for 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, 2003 at First Baptist Church in Mounds.

Barbara E. Curtis of Sapulpa died Monday, April 22, 2002 at St. John Sapulpa at the age of 67.

Mrs. Curtis was born June 12, 1934 in Colorado and had lived in Sapulpa since 1963 moving here from Oakhurst.

She was employed for the Sapulpa Christian Day Care for the past 16 years and had worked for Liberty Glass Company. She was a member of the June Rose Assembly of God Church and the S.T.P. Sunday School class.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Henry Curtis in 1999 and her parents and sister, Dorothy Harris.
