ELIZABETH "BETTY" JEAN MCBRIDE
From "The Tulsa World," Thursday, May 1, 2003

SAPULPA -- Betty McBride, 78, teacher, died Wednesday. Services pending. Green Hill.

From "The Sapulpa Herald," Tuesday, May 6, 2003
Elizabeth Jean McBride

Elizabeth Jean McBride, 78, known to her family and friends as Betty, went home on April 30, 2003 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. The Good Lord decided to bring Betty home to be with Him. Mom always loved to travel and I am sure she was thrilled with her most recent trip.

Born in Roseburg, Ore., on March 10, 1925, Betty was the only daughter of Samuel Tate Dixon and Katherine Ann Dixon, of Oakland, Calif. Her family also spent time in Idaho, Montana, and ended up settling down in California. She attended and graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with her elementary school teaching credential. She educated many third and fourth graders in the Oakland, Calif. and San Lorenzo, Calif. public schools.

In addition to educating countless students outside the home, Betty along with her husband Richard Anthony McBride, who preceded her in death, raised and educated three surviving sons.

They are Gerry McBride, of Sapulpa, Pat McBride of Gilroy (Calif.) and Richard McBride of San Lorenzo, Calif.

Betty's daughter-in-law and primary care giver to the end is Janie McBride, of Sapulpa. Janie, your selfless love and care for Betty is an inspiration to us all.

Other surviving family members are Darcy McBride and her and Pat's children, Whitney and Colby McBride, of Gilroy, Calif. Gerry and Janie's son, Sam McBride, of Sapulpa and Betty's sister-in-law, Rita McBride, of Fremont, Calif.

To those who knew Betty in health, they knew a lady who enjoyed many of life's simple pleasures and did so with passion. Many of which she shared with those family and friends closest to her. She enjoyed spending time on the Klamath River, steel head fishing; summer times camping, reading and relaxing along the Russian River, and world and local travel with Dad and friends.

Betty, your smile, laughter and humor touched all who spent time with you.

Mom, your reach touched and taught many. You enjoyed your life to the fullest while you could. One of your hopes was to raise sons that would have your independent nature and enjoyment of life. To you and Dad's credit, you succeeded.

Betty, your family and friends hearts are heavy today with your passage. The far greater news is that where you are now and who you are eternally with is just cause for those of us who remain to celebrate and cherish your life, times and good memories we shared together.

To that end, a gathering of close friends and family gathered at the homestead of Gerry and Janie McBride on May 3, 2003, to memorialize and celebrate Betty's life.

Green Hill is in charge of all arrangements.

SAPULPA -- Ernest L. "Mac" McDaniels, 77, retired shoe shop owner, died Friday. Graveside service 2 p.m. Tuesday, Green Hill Cemetery. Smith.

----------------------

From "The Sapulpa Herald," Monday, June 28, 2004

Ernest Lee McDaniels

In the early morning hours of June 25, 2004, Ernest Lee McDaniels went to his rest. He was 77 years old.

He was born March 24, 1927 to John C. McDaniels and Mary Rushing in Kiefer. Better known to people as "Mc," he established and operated Mc's Shoe Shop in 1956 and continued with the successful business for 42 years.

Health reasons caused the final closing in October 1998.

He was a World War II veteran (1944-1946) and was trained as a communications lineman specialist and a military policeman with the United States Army Station in Puerto Rico and Trinidad.

On Dec. 8, 1946, he married Doris Hubbard, his love and partner for life.

They enjoyed 57 years of marriage and Doris was at his side until his last breath, holding his hand.

This marriage brought two children, a son Jimmy, and a daughter, Penny.

Mc was a perfectionist. His work was well known and he was a man of many talents.

He was employed by Frankoma Pottery as a master moldmaker from 1948 to 1955. He served on the Sapulpa Police force from 1955-1956.

Returning to a trade taught to him by his father, he started his own shoe repair in 1956. He repaired shoes, hand-tooled belts, made saddles for many people and did orthopedic corrections as prescribed by orthopedic physicians.

He was preceded in death by his father John McDaniels on March 25, 1954, mother Mary M. Tye on October 15, 1999, and step father Thomas N. Tye on Feb. 3, 1990.

He is survived by his loving wife Doris, son Jimmy and daughter Penny Matney, of Sapulpa; three grandchildren Jimmy Ray McDaniels Jr., Jeni Raelyn Wright and Kari Leigh Matney.

He was also blessed with four great-grandchildren, Jade Caroline Roller, Mekayla Dawn, Paige Madison and Anthony James McDaniels.

The family would like to thank everyone who called or came by with condolences, sent food or flowers, or just thought of the family with prayer. We greatly appreciate it all.

Mostly, we would like to thank those friends that would come by to visit Mc at home until his death. It made him very happy. His smile would light the entire room and his eyes twinkled. He paid close attention to details and to other people's feelings.

We will miss him greatly and he will never be forgotten because he will remain in our hearts and our daily lives.

Graveside services with full military rites will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at 2 p.m., at Green Hills Memorial Gardens.

The services will be under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Sapulpa. Visitation will be available until services. Closed casket services at graveside.

In 1994 he sold the company and retired so he could travel and spend time with his family.

An active deacon of First Baptist Church of Sapulpa, he was always putting others' needs before his own. We all loved visiting grandpa and helping him work in his garden, but our favorite thing was camping at Clayton Lake. He was a loving and kind person who never had harsh word for anyone or anything. His love and kindness touched many and he will be deeply missed by all. Through our grief we look forward to the day we will see him in heaven.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church Sapulpa Building fund or Baptist Homes for Children in Owasso.
