Pauline Wolf

Pauline Wolf passed away peacefully Friday, July 2, 2004, at her home in Sapulpa.

She was born June 20, 1918 in Indianola to Robert Coleman Ballard and Margaret Walker Ballard.

She grew up in the Slick area and attended schol at Mountain Creek and Wyatt, and graduated from Slick High School in 1937.

She attended North Heights Free Will Baptist Church, having been a member there for 50 years. She was a faithful member and had a loving church family.

Pauline started her working years at the old St. James Hotel Coffee Shop in Sapulpa. She later worked for B.C. Glass and retired from Bartlett Hospital in 1978. While at the hospital she worked in the recovery room, surgery and O.B. department.

She was preceded in death by her parents, six sons, Carroll Johnson, Jerry Johnson, Willis Johnson, Bob Johnson and twin sons who died at birth; and her first husband Bill Johnson; sister Grace Eldredge; brothers R.C. Ballard, J.T. Ballard and Rex Ballard.

She is survived by husband Bill Wolf of the home; son Richard Johnson, of Sapulpa; daughter Fredy Jones Wilson, of Kellyville; sister Ruth Blosch, of Tulsa; step son Ronnie Wolf, of Sapulpa; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at North Heights Free Will Baptist Church, with Ronnie Hardage and R.L. Parnell officiating.

Burial will follow at Stroud Cemetery.

Services will be under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

Clifford Lawrence Wolfe

Clifford Lawrence Wolfe, 52, passed away Monday, June 10, 2002, at the Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City after a prolonged illness.

He was a 32nd Degree Mason at Lodge No. 170 of Sapulpa, a Disabled American Veteran and was a member of the Akdar Shrine of Tulsa.

Wolfe enjoyed playing pool, cards and keeping a smile on everyone's face at all cost.

He enjoyed life to the fullest, helping others and serving and witnessing for the Lord.

He will always be loved and missed by all.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Wolfe and Stella Beasley, of Sapulpa; brothers Melvin Wolfe, of Sapulpa, Marvin Wolfe, of Sand Springs and Howard Wolfe, of Tulsa; sisters Helen Turner of Sapulpa, Ola Fern Broughton, of Sapulpa, and Wanda Broughton, of Sand Springs.

He is survived by his wife, Juanette Kay Wolfe, and sister-in-law, Lou Ann Christmas, of the home; sons Jeremy Wolfe, of McAlester, and Jason and wife Michelle Wolfe of Tulsa; daughter Teresa Wolfe of Mannford; grandchildren Haylee Brooke and Ethan Kyle Wells of Mannford and Destiny and Trenton Harper of Sapulpa; sisters Lois Russell and Dorothy Feeback, of Sapulpa; brothers Luke Wolfe, Jimmy Wolfe, Hester Wolfe and Deirl Wolfe, all of Sapulpa and Richard Wolfe of Stillwater.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2002 at Midway Full Gospel Church. This is preceded by lunch at noon.

Burial services will be held at Green Hill Cemetery.

Luther L. Wolfe

Luther L. Wolfe "Luke" was born to Raymond and Stella Wolfe on Sept. 18, 1937. Luke passed away on Monday, March 24, 2003. Luke was preceded in death by his parents, Stella Beasley and Raymond Wolfe. Also by his granddaughter, Melonie Dawn Pugh, and by his sisters LaWanda Broughton, Fern Broughton and Helen Turner, and brothers Howard Wolfe, Marvin Wolfe, Melvin Wolfe and Clifford Wolfe.

Luke is survived by his wife, Joyce, of Sapulpa, his children, Luke Jr. and Kelly Wolfe, Russel Wolfe, Jimmie and Kim Wolfe, all of Tulsa; Anita and Tony Platner, of Chelsea; Valorie and Anthony Barrett of Muskogee; Michael Walden and Deborah Wolfe; his stepchildren Ricky Hollis and Randy Hollis, both of Sapulpa; sisters Lois Russell and Dorothy Feeback, both of Sapulpa; and brothers Darrell Wolfe, Wayne Wolfe and Jimmy Wolfe, of Sapulpa, and Richard Wolfe, of Stillwater.

Luke has 33 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and many very loved nieces and nephews.

Luke enjoyed fishing, country music and a good tomato straight from the garden. But most of all he enjoyed being with his family. This was evident in the many stories he would tell about them, with laughter in his voice and a gleam in his beautiful blue eyes.

Luke gave his heart to the Lord Jesus Christ at the Midway Full Gospel Church and we know that today he is happy and seated with Jesus in heaven.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 28, 2003 at Midway Full Gospel Church with burial to follow at Green Hill Memorial Gardens.

The Wolfe family has entrusted the arrangements to Green Hill Funeral Home.

EX-SAPULPA COACH DIES
Special To The Tribune

SAPULPA -- John Miller Wolford, Jr., 51, bulk agent for Sunray DX Oil Co. here and former wrestling coach at Sapulpa High School, died today in a hospital.

Mr. Wolford, who also formerly operated a DX service station here, suffered a heart attack two months ago.

In 1957 Mr. Wolford was named outstanding service station operator by the American Petroleum Institute's oil information committee for his work with young people.

At that time his picture appeared in a full page advertisement which ran in 63 petroleum trade publications in the United States.

He came to Sapulpa 29 years ago as a science teacher, assistant football coach and wrestling coach.

A native of West Virginia, he came to Garber, Okla., with his parents when a small child. He was a graduate of Oklahoma State University, a former deacon at the First Presbyterian Church, past master of the Masonic Lodge, and a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include the widow, Mildred, of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John M. Wolford, Sr. of Enid; a sister, Mrs. Louise Kunkel of Enid, and a brother, Charles Edward Wolford of Grand Junction, Colo.

Services are pending at Owen Funeral Home (Sapulpa).

JOHN M. WOLFORD DIES; RITES WILL BE HELD MONDAY

John Miller (Johnnie) Wolford, 51, well known Sapulpan, died about 6 a.m. Saturday at Curry hospital. He had suffered a series of heart attacks and was undergoing treatment at the time of his death.

Wolford was bulk agen for the Sunray D-X Oil Company here. Until a short time ago he had owned and operated a D-X station at Dewey and Elm for several years.

Prior to this he had been employed at Coca-Cola Bottling company. When he moved here 29 years ago he was on the faculty of Sapulpa schools, as assistant football coach and wrestling coach for three years.

Wolford was a graduate of Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a past master of Masonic Lodge 1709 and was a former member of the Kiwanis club. He held memberships in the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian church and had served as deacon and elder.

Born at Weston, W. Va., Sept. 24, 1911, he moved with his family to Garber, Okla., when a small child. He came here from Garber.

Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Mildred Wolford, of the home, 1310 E. Jackson; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John M. Wolford, Sr., Enid; a sister, Mrs. Louise Kunkel, Enid; and a brother, Charles Edward Wolford, Grand Junction, Colo.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at the Owen Funeral Home chapel. Dr. Roy C. Smith will officiate.

Interment will be in South Heights cemetery (Sapulpa).

SAPULPA -- Arrangements are pending for John Miller Wolford Jr. 51, Sunray DX Oil Co. employe and former Sapulpa High School wrestling coach. He died Saturday in a Sapulpa hospital.

GLENN BYRON WOOD

Glenn Byron Wood, 95, of Sapulpa, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004 at a veteran's hospital in Claremore. He was born in Nevada, Iowa to Byron Wesley Wood and Nellie Mae (Huhn) Wood.

He was a retired cement mason who worked for many contractors since 1941; he belonged to Cement Masons Local #690 in Tulsa for more than 50 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, Seabee, during World War II. He was a Carpenter's Mate Second-Class. Glenn married Jerelene T. (Dean) McClure, Jan. 1, 1977 in Sapulpa. He loved to fish, hunt and work in his garage doing wood working projects for his family and friends. He was a member of Westside Free Will Baptist Church of Sapulpa. He will be missed by family and friends.

Survivors are his wife of 27 years, Jerelene, of the home; a daughter, Lola Chase and husband, Ed, of Alameda, Calif.; granddaughter, Linda Stroud and husband, Kevin, of Alameda; great-grandson, Cameron Chase Stroud, of Alameda; four step daughters, Mary E. Cook and husband, Phil, of Claremore, Karen J. Gulley and husband, R.W., of Jenks, Pat Yarger, of Vinita, and Kay Powell and husband, Gale, of Cleveland; stepson, Larry E. McClure and wife Darlene, of Edmond; several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren and other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters and a two-year-old son.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004 at Westside Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Millard "Preach" McGuire officiating.

Interment will be in Green Hill Memorial Gardens.

Casketbearers will be Danny Guess, Randy Yarger, Brad Powell, Chad Powell, Otis Spencer and Justin Blackburn.

Services are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

WILMA WOOD

Wilma Wood, 76, passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, completing a life of big-hearted service to family, friends, patients and church members.

A registered nurse, she lived on a Mounds acreage and worked most of her career in the Sapulpa area, serving in clinical, surgical and nursing home settings.

She began her nursing career giving hundreds of vaccination shots to GI's freshly enrolled at Oklahoma A&M College, now Oklahoma State University, in the fall of 1945. The last decade of her nursing career was spent as head nurse of Ranch Terrace Nursing Home in Sapulpa.

Upon retirement, she remained active in her church as a Sunday School teacher and in weekly volunteer work at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Tulsa.

She was married to C.R. Wood for 50 years until his passing on Valentine's Day 1997.

She will be lovingly remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, role model and soft shoulder.

She is survived by three sons, Cary Wood of Jenks, Pete Wood of Blanchard and Mike Wood of Tulsa; two sisters, Mayme Miller of Norman and Gladys Campbell of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren; and hosts of others whose lives she touched.

Services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, in the First Baptist Church of Mounds with the Rev. Dick Knox officiating. Interment will follow in the Mounds Cemetery under the direction of the Smith Funeral Home.

Serving as casketbearers will be Ed Smith, Randy Sohl, Gene Rowland, Dale Newman, Chuck Linnet and Jim Shannon.

Carl E. Wooden

Carl E. Wooden, of Sapulpa, entered this mortal life Jan. 25, 1932 to Wennie F. and Bessie Mae Guinn in Chandler and left this moral life Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa at the age of 72.

Carl married Theresa Recz at For McClellan, Ala., in 1972. They have five children and five grandchildren.

Carl proudly served in the United States Army and retired in September 1973 at Fort McClellan with the rank of Staff Sergeant. His 20 year military career took him throughout the United States, Korea, Germany and Vietnam.

Carl was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and attended the Sapulpa ward.

He volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America going through the University of Scouting and Wood Badge Training. As a member in the Order of the Arrow in the Tya Tsu Hwa Lodge of the Indian Nations Council, he was awarded the Vigil Honor in 1995. As a Sac and Fox district member, he was awarded the District Award of Merit in 1991.

Other affiliatons were, but not limited to, the National Rifle Association, Oklahoma Department of Wildlife and Conservation, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1320 and a hunters education instructor.

Carl loved the outdoors and like to go camping and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, David, Roy and Fred; sister Maxine Hunzicker; and one grandchild Catrina Wooden.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa R. Wooden, of the home; son David and wife Jessica, of Lawton; son Karl and wife Melissa, of Sapulpa; daughters Clarissa and Lucinda, of Tulsa, and Angela, of the home; grandchildren Acacia and Jacoby, of Lawton, Elizabeth and Shelby, of Sapulpa; and numerous other relatives.

In leiu of flowers, donations can be made to the Boy Scouts of America scholarship fund for camping, American Heart Association or St. Francis Hospice.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 920 Pioneer Road in Sapulpa, with burial to follow at Green Hill Memorial Gardens.

The family has entrusted the care of the services to the directors at Green Hill Funeral Home.

Mrs. Laura L. Woodruff of 814 E. Lee, died early Sunday at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa. She was born March 25, 1903 in Johnson, Ark., and came to Sapulpa more than 50 years ago.

Mrs. Woodruff worked for Morton's Department Store for 40 years before retiring in 1976. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Betty Corgan of 763 N. Moccasin; three grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Langford of Sapulpa and Otis Langford of Hot Springs, Ark.; two sisters, Beulah Langford and Berline Johnson, both of Sapulpa.

WOOLERY, Margarita -- Margarita Woolery, 85, of Sapulpa, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004 at Ranch Terrace. She was born June 30, 1919 in Mexico.

Survivors are her husband Harold Woolery and daughter Carol Woolery.

Funeral services are pending with Green Hill Funeral Home.

The family has entrusted the care of the services to the direcors at Green Hill Funeral Home.

BEN O. WRIGHT JR.

Ben O. Wright Jr., 84, of Sapulpa, went to be with the Lord on March 21, 2004.

He was born June 30, 1919, in Pueblo, Colo. to Alta May and Ben O. Wright Sr. and graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1937. He was preceded in death by his wife, of 44 years, Nell Holt Wright.

Survivors are his daughters Patti Wright Hollander, of Suffolk, Va. and Mary Beth Wright Calvo, of Rockville Centre, N.Y.; Patti's husband, Paul Hollander, and daughters Heather Michelle Hollander, of Suffolk and Holly Suzanne Hollander Smith and husband, Christopher Smith, of San Diego and Mary Beth's husband, Arthur Calvo and sons Matthew and Andrew Calvo of Rockville Centre.

He also leaves behind his best friend Betty Grigor, of Tulsa, and her son Roger Grigor, his wife, Donna, and their children Scott, Brian, and Gerod and her other son Randy Grigor, his wife Cindy and their children Kristen, Trisha and Alissa. Roger and Randy's children affectionately called Ben their "Paw Paw."

Ben was a well loved member of the First Baptist Church of Sapulpa where he had recently been honored for his service of more than 35 years as their treasurer. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in both World War II and Korean War. He was especially proud of his grandson, Andrew Calvo, for his appointment to the Virginia Military Institute, class of 2008. He retired from Amoco Oil Company in Chicago in 1981 and returned home to his family and friends in Sapulpa.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at the First Baptist Church. Visitation will be at Smith Funeral Home.
