Thomas Tobias Daniel Hager

Thomas Tobias Daniel Hager "Tommy," of Sapulpa, was born Dec. 3, 1909 to Isaac Newton, and Minnie Hager in Beggs.

Surrounded by his family, he passed from his earthly home March 18, 2005 at the age of 95 years.

Tommy married Vivian Alberta Shirley Hager, the love of his life, on March 14, 1934. Tommy lived life on his own terms. Dedicating his life to making it possible to view exotic birds free of charge to anyone, especially children. He was well known throughout the United States and abroad for his ability to raise many types of fowl that were unheard of in the rest of the U.S. Many children spent their spring field trips visitng Hager's Fancy Fowl Farm, east of Sapulpa.

Children were the inspration in his life. He loved nothing more than playing with, telling stories to and teaching children about rare and endangered fowl of the Earth. He was a true outdoorsman and loved to share his experiences with all of us.

Preceding him in death were his daughter, Alberta Wilson, his parents and five sisters: Bertha, Carrie, Rosie, Cora Hager, and Lucretia "Sis" Ussery.

Tommy is survived by daughters and son-in-laws, Louise and Leon Smith, Pat and Norman Asher, and Ted Wilson, all of Sapulpa. Also surviving are his grandchildren Temple Smith, Troy Smith, Trisha Lucas and Donnie, Tom and Sheila Wilson, Jennifer Wilson, and Angie Wilson. His great-grandchildren were so special to him and will miss him greatly. They are Douglas Smith, Patti Smith, his sweetie pie Sarah Lucas, and Bradley Finn, Jessica Wilson, McKayla Bennett, and McKinzie Sams.

He is also survived by brothers-of-the-heart Leo and Cleo Smith, of Sapulpa. Their many tales of time spent together entertained all of us. We loved to get them all together and listen to the fun they shared as boys.

Tommy Hager was a rare and wonderful man, loved by all who knew him. We have all be blessed by his love.

Services for Timmy will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2005, in the Smith's Funeral Chapel and burial will be in the Beggs Cemetery.
