RETIRED WORLD SECURITY OFFICER DIES; RITES TODAY

KIEFER -- Garold Dene Wilmott, a retired U.S. Army Corps of Engineers draftsman and Tulsa World security officer, died Thursday. He was 71.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Leonard & Marker Funeral Home Chapel in Bixby.

Wilmott was born Aug. 5, 1933, in Glenpool just seconds after his twin brother, Harold Wilmott.

He served in the Army during the Korean War and married Anna Jenson on Oct. 8, 1955.

Wilmott worked for nearly 35 years as a draftsman for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

On July 24, 1991, he began working as a security officer for the Tulsa World.

His twin brother became a Tulsa World security officer in 1994.

In 1997, Wilmott, who had lived in Kiefer for most of his life, moved to Adair.

He retired from the Tulsa World on March 19, 1999.

Wilmott was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the First Baptist Church, both of Glenpool.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Wilmott; a son, Rodney Wilmott of Kiefer, and a daughter, Rhonda Fox of Sapulpa.

Other survivors are four brothers, Harold Wilmott of Tulsa, Jack Wilmott of Glenpool, Scott Wilmott of Kiefer and Jim Wilmott of Sapulpa; two sisters, Leota Roller of Cashmere, Wash., and Loretta Ramey of Mounds; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
