Elisha and Hazel Cheatham, 1020 East Line, celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on Wednesday. This was only one of several family celebrations being held the first two weeks of January.
The couple has two daughters and of the four family members, three have birthdays in early January. On Jan. 3, Elisha's 85th birday was celebrated with a special congratulatory card from Rosalynn and Jimmie Carter. January 10 was Hazel's 87th birthday, and on January 14 their oldest daughter will celebrate hers.
The Cheatham's daughters are Juanita (Mrs. Paul) Montgomery, 1018 E. Line and Dorothy (Mrs. Clifton) Green, Ada. They have six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Cheatham has been retired for 20 years. Prior to that he spent 52 years with the Frisco and Santa Fe railroads. The couple is active at First Christian Church and Mrs. Cheatham says she does all her housework. "Of course, I have to stop and rest every once in awhile," is her quiet comment.
