The Nursing Home Pageant held at the Cimarron Pointe Care Center on Thursday, April 14, 1988, is connected with Oklahoma Nursing Home Week, which willl begin on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 8, and continued through Saturday, May 14.

First Runner-Up was Mrs. Mae Neal. Second Runner-Up was Edna Robinson and Third Runner-Up was Edna Saul.

The First Ms. Cimarron Pointe, Ms. Cora Moore, fell ill and was transported to a Tulsa hospital prior to the corwning of the Queen.

"She did a very queenly act prior to leaving and asked Mae Neal to visit her in her room and to take over for her because she could not make the pageant," said Activity Director Wanda Seaman.

Mrs. Neal graciously accepted and stood in for Mrs. Moore, to the best of her ability.

It is with sadness that officials at Cimarron Pointe reported of the passing away of Mrs. Moore over the weekend. When Mrs. Neal was informed of this, she said, "I'm certain she has a better crown now where she's at than I could ever have here."

Cimarron Pointe's staff and residents would like to take this opportunity to extend their heartfelt sympathies to Mrs. Moore's children.

Prior to the crowning of the first Ms. Cimarron Pointe, Darlene Kastl provided several piano tunes for the crowd gathered to view the festivities. Charles Clow, of All American Awards, donated the crown. Clow also made plaques for all of the ladies.

Following refreshments, a video tape of the 1986 state 'Ms. Oklahoma Nuring Home Pageant,' was shown.

"If your image of nursing homes is outdated," said Seaman, "Please update it and come visit us. Our Queen will go on to the Ms. Metro Tulsa Pageant later on, and maybe to the Ms. Oklahoma State Pageant. Wouldn't you love to run for queen at 80 or 90!"

Mrs. Mae Neal, 88, First Runner-Up, and Acting Queen, was born on February 5, 1900, in Huntsville, Ark., in Madison County. She was the fourth of seven children: six girls and one boy. She has one son, Wayne K. Neal who lives on Lake Keystone.

"I had rather be living here at Cimarron Pointe than anywhere," said Mrs. Neal. "I don't want to be a bother. I think it's nice they have a place like Cimarron Pointe."

Mrs. Edna Robinson, 94, Second Runner-Up, was born on October 17, 1894, in Hennesey, Okla., in Kingfisher County. She is the oldest of a family with 11 children.

She likes living at Cimarron Pointe. "It's a real nice place."

Mrs. Edna Saul, 81, Third Runner-Up, was born on January 18, 1907, 10 months before statehood, in Ottawa County near Wyndotte and Miami, Okla. She was the eighth of 10 children in the family.

Mrs. Saul has three boys: Danny, who lives near Mannford; Clayton, who lives in Long View, Tx., and Rex, who lives in Tulsa and is a retired Sgt. from the Air Force.
