DON AND JUDY HUTCHISON

"HUTCHISONS HONORED ON 25TH ANNIVERSARY"

From the "News Journal," Mannford, Oklahoma, October 7, 1987

Judy and Don Hutchison were honored
on their 25th Wedding Anniversary.

Don and Judy Hutchison celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary on Wednesday, September 30th with a surprise party held in their home southeast of Cushing.

Hosting the affair were Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Blay and Shelia of Drumright and two of their children, Kerry and Steven Hutchison.

The evening was spent opening gifts, eating cake and ice cream, taking pictures and visiting.

The couple were married on Sunday afternoon, September 30, 1962 at the South Creek Church of Christ in Drumright by Thomas Cunningham, minister of Stillwater. Their attendants were Carol (Harvill) Bengston, now of Mannford and Benny Hutchison of Ralson. Their ushers were Hobert Lowe of Drumright and Harold Johnson, now of Odessa, Texas.

The wedding reception was held in the home of Mrs. Lydia Collins. Hostesses were Mrs. Iva Barnes, Mrs. Amy Cooper and Mrs. Mary Moss. The three-tiered wedding cake was made by Mrs. Donna Dickson and the price was $15.00.

The newlyweds went to their first apartment in Chickasha where they lived for one year while Don was employed with Quay Construction Co. as a welder and maintenance drawing top wages at that time of $2.90 an hour. Later they returned to the Drumright area where Don was employed with Turnbow Horse Trailers.

Judy was reared and attended most of her school years and graduated from Drumright High School. Both were born in Chandler, Ok.

Their unique meeting was when Don was traveling through Drumright on a business trip shortly after being discharged from the Navy. He noticed a girl's senior picture in the window of Woody's Studio and he knew he had to meet this girl. Don went inside and asked the photographer who the girl was and where she lived.

The irony of it all was they learned they had been neighbors when they were children living in Chandler. At that time Judy was only three years old and Don was around eight. Both families had moved away - Don to Claremore and Judy to Drumright.

Soon Don started going to church with Judy and coming over every chance he could. He came almost every week-end to visit and called on the telephone. Their friendship blossomed into love and they were soon married.

They now have three children, Tony who is serving in the U.S. Navy and is stationed at Mayport, Florida. Their other two children, Kerri, a Senior and Steve a junior, both attend Cushing High School.

They attend the Church of Christ in Cushing at 9th and Linwood.

Don established his own Welding Service in 1976. In 1979 they built a home southeast of Cushing in the Oak Grove area where they have remained since.
