FRANK BYRD AND EDITH HORN KESTERSON

"KESTERSONS CELEBRATE 50TH"

From the "News Journal," Mannford, Oklahoma, April 13, 1988

Frank Byrd and Edith Horn Kesterson celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, April 3, 1988 with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Penn Oaks Recreation Room. The Kesterson's were married in 1938 by Rev. Tom Wiles, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, Springfield, Missouri. Hosting the reception were son, Larry, daughter-in-law, Mary Lou and grandson, James of Sapulpa.

Refreshments were served from a ruffled lace tablecloth centered with a bouquet of yellow chrysanthemums with a large punch bowl and a two-tiered cake at either end. A unique feature of the cake was that the bottom layer was square and the top tier round. The top tier was decorated with yellow rosebuds nestled in gold foil and a matching panel across the lower tier.

The punch was golden colored in keeping with the celebration. After the honorees cut the cake guests were served cake, punch, nuts and mints. The mints were centered with the traditional '50'.

Bouquets of yellow chrysanthemums, gifts to the pair, were placed in various spots throughout the room. A bouquet of red and white carnations spotlighted the piano. A highlight of the decor was the coffee table centered with white mums, flanked by low candlesticks encircled with miniature white orchids. The affair was catered by Will Catering of Sapulpa.
