REV. AND MRS. LESTER (& DOROTHY) H. LUNDAY

'LUNDAYS HONORED'

From the "News Journal," Mannford, Oklahoma, January 14, 1987

The Rev. Lester H. Lunday and wife, Dorothy were surprised with the gift of a friendship quilt for their 50th wedding anniversary by members of the Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Members who chose to, embroidered their favorite scripture and their name on a quilt block for their pastor and wife.

There was a special service at Oak Groave that Sunday morning with Dale Gowdy from Cleveland in charge of the morning worship, allowing the Lundays to sit with their family.

Present were their two daughters Mrs. Shirley Hill and Barbara and husband, Larry Sanford and their family Leigh Ann, Kristie Lyn and Michael Harlson and Bently Sanford and friend Kyttie Miller, all from Houston, Texas.

The afternoon was spent at home receiving family and friends.

The Lundays were married November 9, 1936, at Stillwater and have lived in the Yale, Cushing area all their married life.

They came to the Oak Grove Church July 1953, when it was Bower's Baptist Mission, a mission of First Baptist Church Drumright. They have been at Oak Grove for 33 years. They have seen two generations born into the church and they are very fond and close to their church family.

The Rev. Lunday would be described by his members as a very successful pastor. The definition of success being - in man's eyes, how many servants you have - in God's eyes, how many you serve.

He is a very loving, faithful and serving pastor.
