"MCCLAIN'S HONORED ON 50TH ANNIVERSARY"

From the "News Journal," Mannford, Oklahoma, October 7, 1987

Mr. and Mrs. R.M. McClain were honored with a reception held at the Drumright Community Center on Sunday, September 6th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Hosting the reception were their children and grandchildren: Cleetis & J.D. Boyers of Medford, Ok.; Clyde & Fran McClain, Carmen, R.M., and Rochella of Rochester, Minn. and Nelda & John Gaines, Brian, Jason and Angela of Franktown, Colo. In addition to the reception, the McClain's were honored by the children and grandchildren with a gift of a grandfather clock for their home.

Guests were served from a 4-tier wedding cake baked by niece, Rachella Larmon of Wanette, Ok. The cake was off-white and decorated with gold roses, leaves and bells with a gold 50th on the top. Other appointments carried out with a family cut glass punch bowl and cups. Also, nuts and gold bell mints served in gold dishes.

Off-white satin clothes were used on the cake table and the round punch table. A gold off-white silk flower arrangement made by Mrs. Larmon, two large gold candlesticks and gold tableware carried out the fiftieth colors.

Attending the guest was granddaughter, Carmen.

Prior to the recpetion, the McClain's pastor, Rev. Chris Tecmire, performed the ceremony as the honorees renewed their wedding vows. Attending the couple in the ceremony were Mr. and Mrs. Spence McClain (Spence had been his brother's best man fifty years ago).

The afternoon was spent visiting with friends and family members, some they hadn't seen in a long time. Roy Lee Gaines, brother of John and LeRoy Boyers, brothers of J.D., captured many memories with photographs and a video tape. Guests also enjoyed the hall showing the lives of R.M. and Lucille and their family from 1937-1987.

The McClain's received many cards, including one from President Ronald and Nancy Reagan, and phone calls from those unable to attend but wanted to extend their best wishes for the couple.
