One of her pall bearers had served as her escort two years ago when she was Mannford High School football queen.

A folder containing her senior picture replaced the casekt in the church during the memorial service.

While a Mannford student, Melissa Ann had served as school cheerleader for eight years and was head cheerleader her last two years. She was chosen "Most Spirited Girl of her Class" by the 1983 seniors. She also held class office and was active in Kaleidoscope and was mentioned in two different Who's Who organizations at the school.

After graduating from Mannford, Melissa attended OSU, Stillwater, one year before going to Tulsa Junior College this year as a full time student, while also being employed at C. R. Anthony's.

She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Klintworth of Mannford. Among her many other relatives in this area are two brothers, Kevin Klintworth of Tulsa and Russell Klintworth of Stillwater; and her grandmother, Rita Evans Frazier of Oklahoma City.

Her death occurred around 6:40 p.m. Friday, November 29, while operating a 1984 Pontiac Sunbird on a rain-slick SH 51 about half a mile east of 225th West Avenue near Sand Springs in foggy weather.

Her vehicle and a 1983 Ford pickup operated by Clarence Edward Hamilton, 28, also of Mannford, collided head on. Hamilton allegedly was left of center.

With Miss Klintworth was a passenger, Mona Charlene Farrow, 20, also of Mannford, daughter of former mayor J. W. "Bud" Farrow and Naomi Farrow. Hospitalized at St. Frances in Tulsa, she is believed to be progressing satisfactorily after sustaining head and multiple injuries.

Also taken to St. Francis Hospital was Hamilton, driver of the pickup. He is reported to have sustained two broken ankles and facial lacerations.

Both Hamilton and Miss Farrow were transported by EMSA ambulance to the hospital. Miss Klintworth was pronounced dead at the scene, with death attributed to massive internal injuries.

The impact of the two vechilces caused the Klintworth vehicle to spin onto the north shoulder of the road while the Hamilton pickup continued eastbound before being stopped by the roadway's south shoulder, striking a mail box and finally stopping in a bar ditch.

Firefighters from Keystone and Sand Springs fire departments assisted troopers and EMSA personnel at the scene. The highway was closed to traffic for approximately half an hour during extrication efforts.
