MICHAEL WEISZMANN
From "The Tulsa Tribune," Tulsa, Oklahoma, February 22, 1988
MANNFORD -- a 17-year-old fatally shot a man who sheriff's deputies say was trying to break into a trailer home just north of here, a Creek County officer says.

Creek County Sheriff's Lt. Stephen Vernon said Michael Weiszmann, 30, was shot Saturday night as he tried to enter William Albus' trailer home.

The youth is Albus' half-brother, Vernon said. His name could not be released because he is a juvenile, Vernon said.

Weiszmann died at St. Francis Hospital late Saturday, a hospital spokesman said.

At about 6:30 p.m., Albus and relatives returned to his home and discovered that someone had stolen about $200 in coins and stereo equipment, Vernon said.

Leaving the two boys at the trailer, Albus, 26, left to contact the sheriff's department, Vernon said. While Albus was in town, a man tried to enter the trailer by the back door, Vernon said.

The two youngsters shouted at the man but he did not stop, Vernon said. One shot from a .12-gauge shotgun was fired, striking the man in the chest, Vernon said.

"JUVENILE KILLS INTRUDER"
By Jay Cranke, Managing Editor

A 17-year-old boy killed a man who sheriff's officials say was breaking into a trailer home about 8 p.m. Saturday night.

Lt. Ron Powers of the Creek County Sheriff's office, reported that Michael (Myers) Weiszmann, 30, was shot in the chest by the juvenile with a .12-gauge shotgun as he tried to enter the trailer home of William Albus, located at the corner of Highway 48 and Old Mannford Ramp Road.

The juvenile is Albus' half-brother, Powers said.

Weiszmann died late Saturday at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa.

The Albus' returned to their home about 6:30 p.m. Saturday and discovered that someone had stolen about $200 worth of coins and stereo equipment, according to Powers.

Albus, 26, left two boys at the home and went to contact the sheriff's department and while he was away, Weiszmann entered the trailer through the back door.

The youngsters shouted at Weiszmann but he did not stop, according to Powers.

"There was no doubt Weiszmann was well inside the trailer house when the shooting occurred," Powers stated Monday afternoon, in rebuttal of statements made the Weiszmann was outside when he was shot and dragged into the home.

The Sheriff's department feels the case should go as justifyable homicide in connection with first degree burglary.

"But that will be up to the Distric Attorney's office," Powers said.

"BRISTOW MAN DIES IN FRIDAY MISHAP"

A 23-year-old Bristow man died in a two-vehicle accident last Friday afternoon, it was reported by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. According to Nichols, White approached the tractor-trailer driven by Homer Hixon, 72, of Yale, from behind at about 80 mph. At the first point of impact, which damaged the right front of White's vehicle, he lost control of his pickup and began to overturn.

It looked as though White attempted to pass the truck and possibly misjudged the distance from the back of the truck, but there are many possibilities, Nichols said.

White's vehicle overturned 1 1/2 times and traveled 375 feet before coming to rest on its top on the northbound shoulder. Hixon, who was not inuured, was able to stop his vehicle after traveling 573 feet.

According to reports, White was ejected from the truck during the roll-over through the windshield and landed about 250 feet from his vehicle. He was about 12 feet off the shoulder on the west side of the road, Nichols said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene from massive head injuries.
