FREDERICK -- Darrell Dean, 81, died July 19, 2005 after a long illness. He was a truly honest and generous man who was greatly loved and admired. He was born on October 5, 1923, in Riverdale, NE. As a very young man, he left for a job as a Fingerprint Expert at the FBI in Washington, DC. He served as a Navy Pilot during WWII and later attended the University of Nebraska where he received an Engineering degree. He then worked at Westinghouse in Pittsburgh, PA, until 1953, when the family moved to Erie, PA. There he was employed at Autoclave Engineers as Chief Engineer until 1968. His engineering career included work on the first atomic powered submarine, The Nautilus. In Tulsa during 1968 Darrell started the D.D. Frederick Co., a manufacturer's representative for high pressure equipment. He was a longtime member of the Rotary International and the First Christian Church. His hobbies included gardening, playing guitar and piano, singing and he was a gourmet cook. He was preceded in death by: his wife, Vivian; 2 brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by his daughter, Lynda Frederick of Mannford, OK. Private family services. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Hospice, 6600 S. Yale #350, Tulsa, OK 74136.
