J. D. MULLEN

MULLEN -- J.D., October 30, 1922 - January 13, 2006. A proud grandfather and loving father to 2 blessed children, J.D. grew up in Crane, MO and died peacefully at home in Tulsa, OK. With pride, he served his country during WWII with the 25th Infantry Division, as a Medic in the Pacific Arena (Guadalcanal) and was awarded both the Military Order of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. After the war he returned to the United States and moved to Tulsa. His career in the oil and gas industry spanned over 40 years, starting with National Tank and later, Williams Brothers Co., Butler Engineering and Willbros. After retirement, he helped found the Tulsa Chapter of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and remained an active member. On a 1999 trip to the Philippines, he was honored by the Philippine Government for service in the Liberation of Luzon. His wife, Marge Mullen, died in 1993. He leaves behind his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Gretchen Mullen, of Tulsa, daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Mullen and Frank Sunseri of Seattle, WA: stepson, Michael DePriest and wife, Lori Chessler of Houston, TX; stepdaughter, Deborah; grandchildren, Allison, Max, Jay, Rachel, Margery, Michael, Melinda and Joni. Also dear and surviving is nephew, James Carney and family of Kansas City, MO. Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society. A Funeral service will be held on Friday, 10 a.m., Floral Haven Chapel with interment following at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens. Floral Haven, (918) 252-2518.
