STORY -- Odell Earl, 82, of Muskogee, formerly of Spiro was born March 27, 1922 in Stigler, OK, to Jesse and Ocie (Hill) Story. He died Monday, November 8, 2004 in Muskogee, OK. He was a retired School Teacher. He is survived by: wife, Velma of the home; daughter, Janice Ward of Muskogee, OK; 2 sisters, Faye Ary of Broken Arrow, OK and Beulah Sampson and husband, R.G. of Stigler, OK; sister-in-law, Mary Floyd of Stigler; 3 brothers, Irvin Story of Mobile, AL, Arthur Story and wife, Evelyn of Millington, NJ, and Jesse Rae and wife Andre' of Rapid City, SD; granddaughter, Terri Ward Clark and husband Mike of Muskogee; OK; great-grandson, Matthew Clark; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. He attended school in Stigler, enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served from 1942-1946 in the Pacific Theater. He achieved rank of Gunner's Mate 2nd class. He earned a Master's at NSU in Education. He taught at Pocola, Fair Hill, and moved to Wann, OK in 1952 where he and Velma taught until 1968. After moving to Bartlesville, they both taught until 1979, then retired to Spiro where they lived until 1998, at that time Odell and Velma moved to Muskogee to be near their daughter. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Lifetime member of NEA & OEA, the N Club at NSU. Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Friday, November 12, 2004 at the Spiro First Baptist Church with Rev. Lin Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Spiro City Cemetery under the direction of the Mallory Martin Funeral Home of Spiro, (918) 962-2555. Pallbearers will be: Pat Clement, Bill Barnett, Chuck Forrester, Dwight Blankenship, and Jack Dobbins. Military rites conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4446, Stigler, OK.
