CHURCH MUSIC SHOW

Bill Upchurch, owner of a Mounds establishment, will be the master of ceremonies for a Sunday music concert with the Dixie Echoes. The concert is part of the Tulsa Area Christian Business show sponsored by area radio stations.

The concert will begin 2:30 p.m. at the general exhibition building on the Tulsa State Fairgrounds.

TNT HAPPENING

Singles for Tulsa is scheduled to present Tuesday Nights Together. Singles for Tulsa is an interdemonimational Christian fellowship for single adults in northeast Oklahoma.

Meetings are scheduled every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Coral Room of the Trade Winds West, 51st and Peoria.

Single adults are encouraged and welcomed to come.

PAYMENTS APPROVED

The board of trustees has approved a $50 per month payment for the town treasurer, clerk and members of the board.

Monthly payments will become effective at the beginning of the new fiscal year, July 1.

In addition to this approval, the town council has approved a trial agreement for trash service to the Whispering Hills Area located two miles northwest of town.

Trash service that will be conducted on Friday has a $5.50 monthly charge.

JAMBOREE MEETING

The Mounds Jamboree Committee meeting for March will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, March 1, at the Huddle Inn.

Jamboree committee members are looking for a trailer frame to make a portable stage. Please contact any jamboree committee member if you are able to help locate this piece of equipment.

SENIOR ELECTIONS

The senior citizens' elected officers are: president, Bill Mooney; vice president, Juanita Lacey; secretary Clara Owsley; and treasurer, Rosa Cruikshank.

FIRES REPORTED

The following fires were reported this past week:

Feb. 13, a grass fire at 221st and 231st was caused by sparks from a passing train.

Feb. 14, a small building fire in the Whispering Hills Addition and another grass fire caused by a passing train one-half mile north of the overpass.

Feb. 15, the DeMoss's trailer was partially destroyed by a fire that started near the hot water tank.

Feb. 16, a grass fire in the Quail Creek Area.

STORE OPENING

Henry, Joe and Ken Barber opened a Barber's Superetts in Mounds, Feb. 19.

The Barbers have several superetts within the Tulsa area. The superett is located on Main Street near the overpass. Store hours are 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 6 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday. A grand opening is planned within the next few weeks and will be announced at a later date.

CITY AND GOVERNMENT NEWS

Right-of-way rights have been obtained for the widening of 8th Street which is the road from Mounds to the Beeline. Before the actual process of the widening can begin, other paperwork must be completed.

Richard Bowman, the new Mounds police officer, will begin issuing citations to owners of large animals that are running loose in the city.

A fuel tank has been installed at the Mounds City Garage to fuel fire, water and other city equipment. The fuel tank has been needed for some time.

Mounds resdients may burn off gardens and other open areas from the present time until March 15 with prior approval from the Mounds Fire Department.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the city board will be held Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 6:30 p.m. at city hall.

The water board will meet Monday, Feb. 16, at 6:30 p.m. at city hall. The public is invited to attend.

DONKEY BASKETBALL

A donkey basketball game will be held on Monday, Feb. 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the Mounds High School gym. Advanced tickets are $1.50 for students and $2.50 for adults. At the door prices will be $2 for students and $3 for adults. Tickets are available from band members.
