CAFFEY -- "Ziggy" Scott, 49, of Bixby, OK passed away Wednesday after a year-long battle with cancer. Born June 1, 1953 in Oklahoma City, OK. Ziggy graduated from high school in Moore, OK and attended college at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK where he was president of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was a storm chaser and a member of the rescue team in Weatherford. As a licensed Electrical Contractor he went into business for himself as "Scott's Electric" for many years in Weatherford. He moved to Bixby in 1989 and went to work for Kimberly Clark where he was employed for 14 years. He was known at work for the silly poems that he wrote for co-workers that retired or transferred from the mill. He made many friends during his career at Kimberly Clark and his kindness and unique personality touched many lives. Ziggy was the face painter at the Bixby Green Corn Festival for many years and was a member and officer of the Bixby Optimist Club. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Caffey. He is survived by his wife, Jacquie Young Caffey; 2 sons, Charles Caffey and Russell Caffey of Jacksonville FL; 1 daughter, Jody Young of New York City; 2 sisters, Christine Caffey of Dallas, TX and Jan Caffey of Colorado Springs, CO; and his mother, Jan Caffey of Tulsa, OK. Jeffrey was born in El Paso. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Jeffrey lived in Arlington before moving to Bixby. Her was a very giving person and will be fondly remembered. Alvin "Wayne" Campbell, age 71, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, March 18, 2004 at Saint Francis Hospital, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mr. Campbell was born June 25, 1932 in Davenport, Oklahoma to Velda Campbell and Eva Mae Brewer Campbell. He attended Claremore Military Academy but graduated from Wilburton High School and he served in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant stationed at Lowery Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado. On February 20, 1954 Mr. Campbell married the love of his life, Rawline Robbins Campbell and resided in Winchester, Oklahoma before moving to Glenpool, Oklahoma 2 years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Campbell celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family just last month. Mr. Campbell was self-employed as a truck driver. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Del City. Mr. Campbell enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf -- he just loved to have fun.
Mr. Campbell's parents preceded him in death. Mr. Campbell is survived by his loving wife, Rawline of Glenpool, Oklahoma; son: Wes and his wife, Liz, of Glenpool, Oklahoma; son: Kenny, of Winchester, Oklahoma; daughter, Debra and her husband, Mark McDole, of Glenpool, Oklahoma; brother, Arlen Campbell of Wagoner, Oklahoma, sisters: Myrna Campbell and Joy McKinney of Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Mr. Campbell is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Brian, Wes, Zach, Tiffiny, Amanda, Michael, Britany, Sam and Dustin. He also has 1 great grandchild: Zoey.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, March 22, 2004 at Schaudt's Glenpool Funeral Service Chapel, with burial immediately following at Haskell Cemetery. Services for Nelda Ferne Campbell, 71, of Sapulpa were 10 a.m. Aug. 9 at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso with Pastor David Priest officiating.
Burial was in Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery in Owasso under the direction of Mowery Funeral Service.
Pallbearers were Ryan Campbell, Bob Campbell, Randy Campbell, Mike Campbell, Danny Campbell, Seth Campbell and Archie Cole, Jr.
Campbell died Aug. 5, 2002.
Born Aug. 31, 1930, in Hollis, Okla., to Alfred and Media (Donaldson) Nesmith, Campbell attended Guymon schools graduating in 1948 from Guymon High School.
She married Robert Campbell on June 5, 1948 in Borger, Texas. She spent most of her working life as an office manager with Stanfield Office Supply in Guymon.
Survivors include her husband, Robert, of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Frankie Campbell of Calremore, Okla., Randy and Sandy Campbell of Junction City, Kansas and Ryan and Lisa Campbell of Jenks; one brother, Butch Nesmith of Stockton, Calif.; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathryn and Roy Cassidy of Stockton, Calif., Yvonne and Winfred Reed of Susanville, Calif., and Jamie Sue and Jim Hughes of Stockton, Calif.; fove grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
BIXBY -- Robert C. Canaan, Sr., 75, retired precision tool maker, died Wednesday. Graveside service 10 a.m. Saturday, Bixby Cemetery. Bixby Funeral Service.
Army Pvt. Dennis B. Canady, 21, was killed Saturday when he was struck by an auto near Ft. Belvor, Va.
The son of Truman Canady, 402 West Beaver (Jenks) and Mrs. Dzidra Canady of 26 North Nogales Ave., Tulsa, he attended Central high in Tulsa and was employed by Tulsa Produce Company before entering the army in April, 1970.
Other survivors include five brothers, David, Danny, Derrald, Dean and Truman Canady Jr.; two sisters, Rhonda and Lavinia Canady; and a grandfather, Cecil Canady of Tulsa.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel with burial at Woodland Cemetery in Sand Springs, with military honors.

Word has been received here of the death of Pearl M. "Peggy" Canfield of Jenks, Okla., on Dec. 23 (1990).
Born on June 17, 1898, Mrs. Canfield had many friends in Montesano.
She is survived by her husband, Maurice H. Canfield; a daughter, Mary F. Mayo of Jenks; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 33 great-great-grandchildren.
Three sons, Virgil Parsons, George Parsons, and Glenn Parsons, preceded her in death.

CANNON -- Lester Melvin, II. A Memorial service for Lester Melvin Cannon, II, 39, will be held Saturday, July 27 at 2 p.m. at Praise Center Ministries, 5672 E. Hwy. 117, Sapulpa, OK 74066, 918-248-5776. Pastor Randy Lynn will conduct the service. Lester died July 15, 2002 at 4:20 p.m. in a motorcycle collision on Hwy. 111 and Mt. Carmel Church Rd. in North Carolina while on vacation. A resident of Glenpool, OK, native of Tarboro, NC. Son of Melvin Cannon of Goldsboro, NC and Annie Christeen Newell of Tarboro, NC. He is also survived by: stepmother, Mildred Cannon of Goldsboro, NC; brothers, Steven Warren Cannon of Rincon, GA, Christopher Paul Cannon and wife, Virginia of Glenpool, OK and John Wayne Cannon and wife, Michelle of Tarboro, NC; and 6 nephews and nieces. Lester was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association. His chapter, Spirit Squad, is located in Tulsa, OK. Lester's church membership is with Praise Center Ministries. He had an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy. He was a graduate from Rhema Bible School. Lester worked for Wal-Mart at 91st and Memorial in Tulsa, OK, 1st United Methodist Church in Tulsa, OK and he operated his own business, L&C Massage. The family will receive friends following the service on Saturday. Lester is loved much and greatly missed!
The father of Rev. Bill Cannon, pastor of Manger Baptist church died Tuesday morning May 6. He was Tom Cannon, 83, of 230 N. Market, Shawnee. He was born in Lureal, N.C., coming to Oklahoma in 1901 and has been a resident of Shawnee since 1929.
Survivors are the wife, Mrs. Vido Cannon, of the homep; four sons, Bud Cannon, Crowsville, Ill., Bob Cannon, Okla. City, Roy Gene Cannon of Houston, Tex. and Rev. Bill Cannon, Jenks; two brothers, John and Lee Cannon of Maud; a sister, Mrs. Gracie Mae Fitzpatrick, Bakersfield, Calif., eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services for Jenks native Robbie Jean Meier Cargill, 82, of Prague were 2 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2001 at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Prague with Rev. Steve Roach officiating assisted by Tyler Grissom.
Burial was in the Prague Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague.
Mrs. Cargill died Tues., April 3, 2001, in Prague.
Born September 15, 1918 in Jenks, the daughter of Fred and Anna (Horn) Kincade, she was a resident of Prague and a member of the Prague First United Methodist Church. She was a partner with her father in the Reliable Chevrolet dealership from 1937 until 1969 and she also owned and operated the Merle Norman Top and Bottom Dress Shop in Prague from 1969 until 1990.
Survivors include two daughters, Toni Meier and Glenda Walder, both of Prague; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jvon Meier on Aug. 13, 1960. She married Glen Cargill in 1963 and he died Aug. 6, 1984. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Funeral services for Tom N. Carroll, 86, a retired farmer in the Glenpool area were held in the Bixby First Baptist Church Wednesday, December 20 at 2 p.m.
A resident of Glenpool for 25 years, Mr. Carroll died of a heart attack Monday in a Sapulpa nursing home.
Interment was in Bixby with the Kennard Funeral Home, Broken Arrow, in charge of arrangements.

CARTER -- Robert Earl, 79, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 16, 2005. Earl is survived by his wife of 51 years, Grace, of Glenpool; son Rob and his wife, Pat, of Bixby; son, Alan and his wife, Nancy, of Tulsa; daughter, Roberta Hines and her husband, Sam, of Claremore; son Richard and his wife, Darla, of Glenpool; sister, Linda Holland, of Tulsa; 6 grandkids; 2 great-grandkids and a host of friends. Earl worked for 38 years as a U.S. Postal Service employee in Tulsa. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at New Testament Baptist church for six-year-old Starlyn Carter, who died in an early morning fire that destroyed the family home in Jenks last week.
Survivors include the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Carter; two brothers, Christopher and Michael Carter; a sister, Yvette Carter; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Burton Carter; and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Salvatore Barbara.
Burial was at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Reponse has been tremendous for the burned-out Richard Carter family, according to George Cowherd, who has been taking care of donations for the family since last week when their little six-year-old daughter died in a fire which destroyed all possessions of the family. They had earlier experienced loss in the Labor Day flood.
As soon as the news was spread last Wednesday morning, funds began pouring in. Cowherd said that as of Tuesday night a total of $4,739 had been given. Donations came from as far as Fort Smith, Ark., and other cities - not only cash, but clothing and household goods.
Cowherd expressed his own thanks in the community for being so generous in this campaign to aid the Carters.
Mr. and Mrs. Carter were both hospitalized from burns but were released Monday. The other children escaped injury. Mrs. Carter is expecting another child in four months.
At the present time they are living with his parents in Jenks.
CARVER -- Charlene Posey, went to join her Lord on November 30, 2004. She was born in Bixby, OK on December 2, 1929, and was a lifelong Tulsa area resident. She graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1947. Charlene was a loving wife and mother, a generous friend, a faithful Christian. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, George B. Carver; son, Steve and wife, Pam; and granddaughters, Anna and Laura of Ithaca, NY; brothers, James Posey and wife, Rowena of Springfield and Clay Posey of Springfield, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, 6500 S. 129th E. Funeral services for Dorothy Case, 68, were Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, in the chapel at the Bixby Cemetery with Rev. Don Alexander of Sapulpa officiating.
Dorothy Garbey Case was born Oct. 1, 1932 in Tulsa, the daughter of John Wayne and Evelyn Marie (Shields) Garbey. She passed away at St. Francis Medical Center in Tulsa on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001.
Mrs. Case was married to David Case who preceded her in death in 1976. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a half-brother, Donald Sullivan. She is survived by her brother, John W. Garbey, Jr., and his wife Joyce, of the home and a sister-in-law, Ina Griffith.
Mrs. Case was a lifelong resident of the Jenks area.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Ninde Funeral Directors, Jenks Chapel.
Funeral services were held for Wilma Lee Casey, 67, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 1999 at First Baptist Church in Jenks.
Mrs. Casey died on Feb. 3.
Mrs. Casey was born on Dec. 22, 1931 to Winnie and McKinley Watts in Okemah. She married Doyle Casey in June of 1948 in Holdenville.
Mrs. Casey retired after 20 years of service at Saint Francis Hospital.
Mrs. Casey was a member of First Baptist Church in Jenks.
Survivors include her husband Doyle James Casey; three children, Robert Casey of Altus, Mike Casey, Perkins and Teresa Oglesby, Tulsa; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and a sister and four brothers.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
Committal services were at 2:45 p.m. in the Highland Cemetery at Okemah under the direction of Heath-Griffith Funeral Home.

"DAN CAYWOOD of Tulsa, a salesman for S. G. Holmes and Sons, passed away Wednesday. His father owned a store here (Jenks) for many years. The two Caywood homes are on East Main. The father Caywood home is now owned by the Anglins and Mrs. Liner has owned the Dan Caywood home for several years. Dan attneded Jenks school and had many friends who regret to hear of his passing. His wife Mae survives. Also two daughters and five grandchildren. Burial was in Floral Haven."

CHAFFIN -- William Braxton, 81, passed away Tuesday, February 24 at Forest Hills in Broken Arrow after a four year battle with cancer (multiple myeloma). Born June 12, 1922 to John and Della Chaffin in Guin, AL, Braxton resided in Bixby, OK. Braxton was a graduate of Stonewall High School, Stonewall, OK. He lettered in basketball all four years. Braxton was also in the 4-H Club, Honor Society and the School Quartet. Braxton and his twin brother, Brad, received a four-year basketball scholarship to the Draughon Business University in Tulsa. He began his business career with Stanolind Oil (later Amoco) in September 1941. He served his counrty in the U.S. Navy throughout the South Pacific. In 1945, Braxton was aboard the USS Cape Gloucester, which participated in the liberation of allied prisoners of war from Nagasaki less than a week after the atomic bomb was dropped. Returning to civilian life, Braxton Chaffin resumed his work at Stanolind Oil. He continued his education at the Oklahoma School of Accounting and received a Bachelor of Commercial Science Degree. His career with Stanolind Oil took him to various locations including Ft. Worth, TX and Brownsville, TX. While in Ft. Worth, in 1953, he met his devoted wife of over 50 years at a gospel singing convention. Braxton married Verner Bee Fry on July 3, 1953. During that same year, he also became an ordained Minister of the Gospel. He organized and became the Minister of the Love Temple Free Will Baptist Church. In 1965, Braxton and his wife and daughter moved to Tulsa with Standard Oil. Later moving to his home in Bixby, Braxton enjoyed yard work and garding of organic produce which was a hobby he enjoyed until 1999. Braxton retired from Amoco in June 1982 but his retirement launched a variety of full and part-time jobs, including retail with Sanger Harris, the Elephant Trunk and then a stint with Dean Bailey Olds where he was the Top New Car Salesman of the Year for 1983. He also worked with Events Services in the Performing Arts Center, Convention Center and the Mabee Center. Braxton was a dedicated Christian who always loved serving others whether at the workplace, at church or with his family. He was a member of Asbury Methodist Church and also a Stephen Minister. Braxton is survived by his wife, Verner Bee; daughter, Elaine Reusser and her husband, Jack; twin brother, Brad and his wife, Mattie; sister, Gladys Connel; niece, Kelly Vilner and her husband, Gregory; great-godsons, Christopher and Nathan Hairston; and many other nieces and nephews. Thank you for being a devoted husband, father and friend! You will be missed! Visitation will be at Floral Haven on Saturday and Sunday. Interment will be at 11:30 a.m. and the memorial service will be at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, March 1, at Floral Haven. The Rev. Bill Mason will conduct the interment and the Rev. DEATHS
William Braxton Chaffin
Memorial services for William Braxton Chaffin, 81, of Bixby were held at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel at 12:30 p.m. Monday, March 1. Rev. Mark McDow officiated.
Chaffin died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, at Forest Hills in Broken Arrow after a four-year battle with multiple myeloma cancer.
Interment was in the Garden of St. Paul, Floral Haven Memorial Gardens, Broken Arrow, officiated by Rev. Bill Mason.
He was born June 12, 1922, the son of John and Della Chaffin in Guin, AL and had lived in Bixby.
Chaffin served his counrty in the U.S. Navy throughout the South Pacific.
He and Verner Bee Fry married on July 3, 1953. During that same year he also became an ordained minister.

A funeral service for Leon Christian was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, 2004, at Leonard & Marker Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Duck Creek Cemetery officiated by the Rev. Henry Kellog. Leon Christian was born on April 19, 1942, in Liberty Mounds to Sam & Ida (Wilson) Christian. He died Dec. 23, 2004, in Tulsa. He was 62. Mr. Christian had spent most of his life in this area. He recently retired as a drill operator for the Hughes-Anderson Heat Exchange Co. Hobbies included spending time with his grandchildren, fishing and working in his yard. He is survived by his wife, Mary M. Mrs. Clark was born Nov. 18, 1938 in Meeker, Colo.

Clark died March 18, 2001 in Claremore where he had lived for the last two years. He was a former long-time resident of Jenks.
Clark was born July 23, 1912 in Bixby, the son of William George and Daisy (Turley) Clark.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Flora, in 1987 and a son, John, in 1948. He is survived by his second wife, Margaret, of the home in Claremore; four sons, Wayne and Jim Clark, both of Claremore, Bob Clark of Sand Springs and Keith Clark of Adair; four daughters, Norma Novotny of Claremore, Helen Walker of Glenpool, Betty Epps of Jenks and Beverly Michael of Harrah; 33 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren, also a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Clark was born Jan. 22, 1919 in Bates, Ark., daughter of Sherman Forest Clark. She died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004 at her home in Jenks. She was a homemaker and resided her entire life in Jenks.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ben Clark in Feb. 1989, and one son, Melvin Clark.

Mrs. Foster died Feb. 20, 2002, at the Grace Living Center in Jenks after an extended illness.
Mrs. King was born the oldest of eight children to Patrick Henry and Clara (Moon) Clay on Aug. 24, 1906, in Franklin County, Ark.
The family moved to the Jenks area in the 1930s and lived there the rest of her life except for a few years when she lived in Okemah.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jenks and the Baptist Church in Okemah.
She worked for a number of years at St. John Medical Center as a nurse's aide.
Survivors include daughters, Wilma Helscel and Kay Cooper, both of Kiefer, and Sue Wallace of Sapulpa; and sons, George R. Foster of Tulsa and Franklin D. Foster of Jenks; a brother, Carl Clay of Okemah; 19 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren.

Paul Le Roy Collyar, 68, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2004 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mr. Collyar resided in Glenpool for the past 9 years moving from Jenks, Oklahoma.
Mr. Collyar was born April 30, 1936 in Blackwell, Oklahoma; graduated from Shidler High School and served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1959 as Sergeant 1st Class Artillery Mechanic during the Korean War. Mr. Collyar worked and retired in 2002 from Terminex Pest Control as a pest control operator. Paul was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Glenpool.
On November 26, 1982, Mr. Collyar married the love of his life, Barbara Dean Collyar. His lovely wife went to be with her Lord on February 2, 2004.
Mr. Collyar was preceded in death by both parents, Floyd Collyar and Lulla Rollins Collyar. He is survived by sister: Loraine Randall, Kingfisher, OK; brothers: Bill Lyons, Okmulgee; Roy White, Blackwell, Frank White, Oklahoma City; Herman White, Perry; daughters: Cindy Denham, Ft. Worth, TX; Rhonda Huffman, Wynfield, KS; step-son: Ken Perkins, Mannford and step-daughter Ronda Perkins Palmer, Glenpool. Mr. Collyar has 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 10, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Glenpool, Oklahoma with the Reverend Brett Allen officiating.

Caolyn Bernice (Conley) Ridgeway died at her home Jan. 22, 2002. She was 83.
She was born in Jenks, Jan. 27, 1918, to Tillman and Jessie Annis (Wilson) Conley, and was a salesperson.
No services were planned. She was cremated and the ashes were buried in the Conley family plot in the Bixby Cemetery under the direction of Ninde Funeral Directors.

COOPER -- Callie Irene, 95, passed away early Saturday morning, June 1, 2002, at the Grace Living Center in Jenks, OK (5 miles south of Tulsa), due to complications following a colon operation. She was born in Agency, IA, September 17, 1906, the daughter of William and Minnie Headman. The family moved to Texas and then to Green Forest, AR before she was 5 years old. In 1926 she met and married A.E. "Pee Wee" Cooper, who preceded her in death in 1954 in Dawson, OK. Mr. Cooper had 1 son, Jimmy Leon by a former marriage. Mrs. Cooper joined Dawson Baptist Church in 1935 and worked in many departments including the Choir. The church changed names several times but she never changed her membership. Jimmy and 1 granddaughter, Loretta, as well as all of her immediate family except 1 sister preceded her in death. Charles F. Cosby, 67, passed away Nov. 17 at his home in Jenks. Burial this week is pending, scheduled for a private cemetery under the direction of Floral Haven Funeral Home.
Cosby was born in Jenks, Sept. 15, 1936 the son of Guy and Leita Cosby.
He served in the Marine Corps and graduated from Northeastern State University. He taught history at Edison High School and later owned Pioneer Stone Masonry Co.
He recently moved back from Kansas City, Kan.
He is survived by his sons Clayton and Clint, daughters Vicki, Tammy and Tonya, three grandchildren, one brother, Bill Cosby and a sister, Marge Roberts. He was preceded in death by his sister Wanda Simmons as well as his parents.

A piece of Jenks has left us - Rollin L. Cowherd died Feb. 6.
He and his wife, Martha, who died in November 1990, lived in the two-story white house at the corner of First and A Streets. They joined with others to help weave the fabric of Jenks.
Through their role in banking, the Cowherds were an integral part of building early in Jenks. In the later years of their lives, when physical limitations kept them from an active role in community affairs, they shared their knowledge and continued making contributions for which they wanted no credit.
The man called "Mr. Cowherd" out of love and respect served three terms as Mayor and was at the helm of many orginazations.
Months before Martha's death, they were asked to share some of their accomplishments with a writer. In the very kindest way he could, Mr. Cowherd said he would not want anyone to think he was "blowing his own horn." The lady he called "Mama or Mother" patiently listened and finally said, "R.L., you help that girl, it will be okay."
The man whose family had lived in a dug-out when building materials were few, had indeed lived a life most would be proud to tout. Always humble and modest, he liked to do the giving, he just did not seem to enjoy the praise that followed.
His tales of bank robberies, baankers trading money on county section lines - before armored trucks - and stories about customers of the bank reflected a life he and Martha had truly enjoyed.
Rollin and Martha shared a marriage of 66 years, raised two sons and assisted in the education of many.
After entering the banking business in Commerce, Oklahoma, he moved up the ladder of management until purchasing interest in the Jenks Bank of Commerce in 1948, where he stayed until retiring in 1975.
He and Martha became very involved and busy. They helped charter the River Oaks Christian Church and continued the support the rest of their lives. Minister Mike Harenza said that long after Mr. Cowherd's health was failing, he would come to summer Bible school to be with the kids, even if it meant being out in the heat.
Mr. Cowherd held every office in the Jenks Masonic Lodge and the Jenks Lions club. One of his favorite events was the Lions Club Pancake Breakfasts. Well into his 80's, he could be found wearing an apron and serving pancakes or washing dishes. Of course, that would only be after he had been out selling tickets up and down the streets of Jenks.
He was a member of the Oddfellows Lodge and the Oklahome State Bankers Association, which honored him for his 50 years of service to banking.
The Tulsa County Fair Board, FFA, Boy Scouts, Red Cross, Girl Scouts, and Civil Defense Corps were among the groups who had awarded him so many honors. Martha said he kept them upstairs so visitors could not see how many there were.
The both loved the memory of being able to give kids loans from the bank so they could belong to FFA and buy animals. The pride came from telling about kids who had learned valuable skills from the care and exhibiting of their animals and used those skills in leadership positions.
Not being able to attend church was hard for both Cowherds. When Mr. Cowherd was able, you could see his Mercedes, Cadillac or four-wheel drive headed to church. A friend said Mr. Cowherd once stopped him on the street and asked if he wanted to go to breakfast. The meal was donuts and coffee at Church. The gentleman said he enjoyed the meal and friendship.
When Martha became ill, Rollin became nurse and housekeeper. He also tok pride in his garden, flowers and yard. As long as he was able, he could be found caring for the home and yard that he loved so much. When asked how he was doing, he had a fairly standard reply, "Better than I have a right to be."
When told his days could be measured, he never once appeared bitter about his fate. He could find no fault in the opportunity to join his beloved Martha. He said he had tried to live a good life and he had no fear of his next calling.
The Cowherds are survived by two sons, R.C. and George R.; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

CRAIN - Brenda Joyce, 53, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 9 2001. Born December 18, 1947 in Claremore, OK, the daughter of J.W. "Jack" and Lena Agnes (Godsey) Van Arsdel. Married Cecil Lee Crain on September 30, 1966. They made their home in Jenks where they were Co-Owners of Crain-Wilson Inc. Mini-Storage. She was a devoted wife and mother who always had a positive outlook on life. Survivors: husband of 34 years, Cecil; daughter Kelli Leann Crain Stewart and her husband, Samuel Reed Stewart of Jenks; son, Brian Keith Crain and his wife, Lisa Ann of Jenks; sisters, Ruby Petty of Tulsa and Barbara Ann Van Arsdel of Jenks. BIXBY -- Smitty Crawford, 68, retired W.R. Grace Chemical Co. computer programmer, died Monday. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and service 10 a.m. Thursday, both at Leonard & Marker Funeral Home.

JENKS -- Grady N. Creech, 76, carpenter, died Monday. Service p.m. Friday, Ninde Woodland Funeral Home Chapel, Tulsa.
Services were held Saturday in Manger Baptist Church for Mrs. Elsie Creekmore, 62, who died Thursday.
Survivors include three sons, Loy Creekmore and Wayne Creekmore, both of Jenks, and Jim D. Creekmore of Tulsa; two daughters, Mrs. Dorcus Crenshaw of Jenks, and Mrs. Luther Metcalf of Bixby; three brothers, Claude Simmons of Bixby, Cal Simmons of Maryville, Mo., and Roy Simmons of Alma, Ark.; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Ullrich of Vera, Mrs. Delcy Walkup of Rosewell, N. M., and Mrs. Susie King of Sallisaw.
Interment was in Bixby Cemetery under direction of Riverside Funeral home in Jenks.

Survived by: his wife of 32 years, Arlene Criner; his daughter, Tammy Owens; and 4 grandchildren; his mother-in-law; 4 brothers; 1 sister; various nieces, newphews and friends. JENKS -- Elmo Crowell, 66, died Sunday. Visitation 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Wednesday; both at Leonard & Marker Funeral Home, Bixby; rosary 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and service 11 a.m. Thursday, both at St. Clements Catholic Church, Bixby.
Services for Elmo Hill Crowell, 66, were Oct. 16, at St. Clements Catholic Church. A Rosary service was also held. Father Dan Mueggenborg officiated.
Burial was in Bixby Cemetery under the direction of Leonard and Marker Funeral Home.
Elmo Hill "Moe" Crowell was born Aug. 8, 1936 to James and Goldie (Hill) Crowell. He died Oct. 13, 2002, in Tulsa.
He graduated from Liberty-Mounds High School in 1955 and afterward worked for Medco Products and Patterson Steel. He was also a surveyor and inspector for the Corps of Engineers at Lock and Dam 18.
Crowell's survivors include his wife, Jerre Crowell; a son, Ronald and his wife, Sylvia Crowell, of Hectorville; a daughter, Cathern and her husband, Kenneth Hazelwood, of Jenks; brothers Pat and his wife Almeda Crowell, of Liberty Mounds and Mike and his wife, Jeanette Crowell, Blue Jacket and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jim Crowell.

CUMBLEY -- Rozella Hazel, 89, of Reno, NV, died Saturday, March 23, 2002 at Washoe Medical Center. Born June 17, 1912, to Charles M. Inhofe and Carrie Six Inhofe. Preceded in death by her huband, Joseph William Cumbley; sister, Lavonne Ingersoll; 2 brothers, Charles Inhofe and Lloyd Inhofe. Survived by a son, William Joseph Cumbley of Sun Valley, NV; brother, Allen Inhofe of Sapulpa, OK; and 2 sisters, Clarice Creekmore of Jenks, OK and Dixie Huffman of Tulsa, OK; 3 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. CUNNINGHAM -- Marie, 78, of Jenks. Service was held Friday, December 15, 2000, at 2 p.m. in the Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel, Tulsa. Pastor Keith Cressman officiated with service under the direction of the Locust Grove Funeral Home. Mrs. Cunningham was born March 5, 1922 in Jenks to William J. and Julia Etta Allen. She passed from this life on Tuesday, December 12, 2000 in Tulsa. She grew up in Jenks, graduating from Jenks High School in 1939. She married Marvin E. Cunningham on January 25, 1940 in Tulsa County. She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of the Jenks area. She was a member of the Jenks Methodist Church and of Jenks Chapter #407, Order of the Eastern Star. She especially loved spending time at the family cabin on Grand Lake. She was a great Mom and Grandma who will be truly missed. She is survived by a daughter, Marietta Knight and husband, Mel of Jenks; son, Gary E. Cunningham of Jenks; sister, Anne Woolworth of North Carolina; grandchildren, Jeanne, Diane, Steve and Kelly Cunningham, Marvin and Chip Knight; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: both parents; her husband, Marvin E. Cunningham; son, Marvin L. Cunningham; and daughter Marian Bradakis. In lieu of other remembrances Marie's family suggests that donations be made to Meals On Wheels.

CUPLEAN, Evelyn -- Evelyn Mae Phillips-Cuplean, 91, died Satureday, Jan. 14, 2006. She was born Nov. 17, 1914 in Jenks.

CURTIS -- James H., 66. passed away November 3, 2002, at Grace Living Center in Jenks, OK. Born in Tulsa, OK in 1936 to parents, Lee and Sylvia (Pruitt) Curtis, Jim graduated from Webster High School in 1956 and retired from a long career as a Welder. He was also a member of Local 798 Pipeliners Union. He is preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Judy and grandson, Brittan Curtis. Survivors include sons, Jeff Curtis and wife, Cathy of Scott AFB, IL, and Jamie Curtis and wife, Krista of Tulsa, OK; daughters, Jennifer Combs and husband, Mark of Sachse, TX and J.J. Curtis of Sachse, TX; brothers, Douglas Curtis of Tucson, AZ and Orrell Curtis of Pineville, MO; sister Norma Newman and husband, Benny of Tulsa, OK; and 7 grandchildren. Rosary will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday and Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m., Thursday, both at Saint Catherine's Catholic Church. Interment following at Memorial Park Cemetery.
