JAMES ROBERT EARP

James Robert Earp, five months old, died Nov. 29. He was the infant son of Leon and Betty Earp.

Other survivors are one brother, Ronald Wayne, of the home; the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Creekmore and Mrs. Eva Earp, all of Jenks. The baby had been ill for six weeks.

Funeral services were Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the First Assembly of God church, with Rev. James Bright officiating. Interment was in the Bixby cemetery.

Deaths

Leon Earp

Service for Leon Earp was held Monday, Dec. 6, 2004 at Beaver Street Baptist Church in Jenks. Rev. Bobby Reid officiated.

Burial was at Bixby Cemetery under the direction of Jack Selby, Bixby Funeral Service.

Mr. Earp was born Dec. 21, 1931, to Sarah Eva Earp, at Jenks. He died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004 at his home in Jenks. He was 72.

Mr. Earp enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1951. He was employed with the City of Jenks for 25 years, retiring as Jenks Public Works Authority Director.

The Leon "Red" Earp Picnic and Trail was named in his honor.

He was a member of Beaver Street Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his mother and three baby sons.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty Earp, of the home; son Ronald Earp and his wife, Dobin; a granddaughter Jennifer and her husband Jessie; grandson Aaron Earp; a half sister, two nephews, and five great grandchildren.

ROBERT JACKSON EAST

Robert Jackson East, 78, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, at a Tulsa health care center.

She was born January 14, 1922, in Oklahoma City, the daughter of Herbert R. C. Jackson and Ethel Maude (Jamison) Jackson.

She married Howard East Oct. 3, 1939. The two were married 54 years until his death Nov. 18, 1993.

East received her bachelor's and master's degrees from East Central University in Ada. She and her husband made their home in Ada for 40 years prior to her moving to Jenks in 1993.

While in Ada, she was a life-time member of Camp Fire Girls and the First Christian Church.

She and her husband were avid golfers and were members of the Oak Hill Country Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her son Kenneth Paul East; and her sister Vivian Batten.

She is survived by her daughters: Jane Ellen Weingartner and husband Larry of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Susan Gail East of Houston, Texas; a son Robert Howard East and his wife Nalice of Jenks; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, at First Christian Church of Jenks, Okla., with the pastor Rev. Chuck Burns officiating.

Honorary pallbearers were her grandsons: Robert Christopher East, Kevin Paul East, Brandon Lee Weingartner and Austin Jamison East.

The family requested that memorials be made to the First Christian Church of Jenks, Okla., or the First Christian Church of Ada, Okla.

Ninde Garden Chapel handled the arrangements.

CHARLES J. EASTERDAY

Charles J. Easterday, 75, 1532 South Knoxville (Tulsa), died Sunday.

He served in World War I, after which he had a drug business here in Jenks for 35 years. He had received his 50 year award as a Mason.

He is survived by wife, Lucille; daughter, Mrs. Bill Lambeth; three grandchildren and four sisters, all of California.

Services were Tuesday afternoon in the Eastside Christian church and intermentin Memorial Park.

EBY -- Seth G., Jr., 91,of Tulsa, passed away Friday, November 9, 2001. He was born August 28, 1910 in Pueblo, CO. He was retired after a long career in Tulsa as an Independent Oil and Gas Landman and Investor. He and his family moved to Tulsa in 1919. He was elected to the Oklahoma Legislature while a student at the University of Tulsa in 1930. After graduation from the university he served as Tulsa County Tag Agent during the 1930s. A long time member of Boston Avenue Methodist Church. Seth was preceded in death by: 2 sisters, a brother, and his loving wife of over 60 years, Mary Nadine Eby. He is survived by: a sister, Patricia Stunkard of Tulsa; his children, Mary Claudine Hickok of Tulsa, Lois Eby of Wolcott, VT, and Frank Eby of Tulsa. Seth is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Service will be held at the Rose Chapel, Boston Avenue United Methodist Church on Tuesday, November 13, 2001 at 10 a.m. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. SETH EBY, JR., EX-LEGISLATOR, DEAD AT 91

Seth G. Eby Jr., an independent oil and gas landman and investor and former state legislator, died Friday. He was 91.

Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Boston Avenue United Methodist Church under the direction of Moore's Rosewood Funeral Home.

Eby was born in Pueblo, Colo., on Aug. 28, 1910. He and his family moved to Tulsa in 1919.

While attending the University of Tulsa in 1930, he was elected to the Oklahoma Legislature. After graduation he served as a Tulsa County tag agent during the 1930s.

He is survived by three children, Mary Hickok of Tulsa, Lois Eby of Wolcott, Vt., and Frank Eby of Tulsa; a sister, Patricia Stunkard of Tulsa; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

EKISS -- Harry T., 69, of Bixby. Retired Tulsa Police Officer. Lost his fight with cancer and went to be with his Lord, Wednesday, June 12. 2002. Though skilled in many arts and labors, his passion was for his family, extending through blood to his children and grandchildren and in kindred spirit to all those brought to poverty and hard times and most especially to those called to the noble profession of law enforcement. Harry served as the founding force for the Tulsa Police Department's Honor Guard and was instrumental in developing the modern version of the Tactical Squad, predecessor of Tulsa's current state of the art law enforcement effort. His spirit ranges far and wide through roads less traveled and is no doubt riding shotgun in some lawman's cruiser on the graveyard shift he loved so much. Harry is survived by: his wife, Sandra; daughters, Tracey Ekiss, Bixby, Susan L. Dunlap of Fort Worth, TX; 1 son, Harry L. "Bo" Ekiss, Bixby; son-in-law, Mark Dunlap; grandson, Travis L. Dunlap; granddaughter, Emma Grace, all of Fort Worth. Although his spirit will remain, his presence will be so very missed by his friends and famiily. Rest easy, Dad. ELAND -- Gene Dayton, 81, was born on December 17, 1921, in Denver, CO. He was received into Heaven on April 21, 2003. He attended the University of Colorado in Boulder, where he studied music, playing the saxophone and clarinet. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a member of the 99th Infantry Band. After the war he completed his B.A. and M.A. degrees. He married Margaret (Peggy) Wiley from Colorado Springs. Their marriage was blessed with 4 children. He taught high school band in Bremerton, WA and Denver, CO. In 1965 the family moved to Tulsa and Gene became one of the founding faculty members of Oral Roberts University. He was on the faculty for almost 40 years, serving as Chairman of the music department for over 20 years. In 1989 he was awarded an honorary doctorate degree from ORU. He played with the Tulsa Philharmonic for over 25 years. He was a member of the CATS (Clarinet Association of Tulsa Serenaders), Clarinet quartet. He was a member of the Starlight Summer Band. He served on the board of the Bixby YMCA. He is survived by his wife, Peggy; and his children and their spouses, Dave and Patty Eland of Tulsa, Linda and Doug Foster of Bixby, Don and Cindy Eland of Tulsa, Nancy and Charles Reed of Colorado Springs, CO; 14 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. ELIZABETH MAXINE ELLIOTT

Elizabeth Maxine Elliott, of Tulsa, died January 2, 1997 at the age of 85.

She was born March 24, 1911a in Jenks, to Valentine and Mae Kaufman, pioneers of Jenks. Her father Kaufman was president of the school board from 1926 - 1931.

Mrs. Elliott graduated from Jenks High School in 1929. She married Charles C. Elliott. She was registrar at Daniel Webster High School in Red Fork for many years, retiring in 1973.

She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and past president of the Women's Society.

Mrs. Elliott is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Roland Rausch, of the home; son Charles Elliott of Poteau; sister Charlene Seegren of Tulsa; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles, an infant daughter Betty Maxine and a son Rober Val Elliott.

Services were held Monday, January 6, 1997 at 2 p.m. at Epworth United Methodist Church. Burial followed at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ninde Funeral Directors, Jenks Chapel.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; 7 brothers; and 2 sisters. He is survived by his wife, Lillian of the home; 1 sister, Dana Hurst of Billings, OK; and 1 son, Curtis B. James C. Ellis

Services for James C. Ellis, 81, longtime Jenks resident, were 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 13 at the South Tulsa Baptist Church. Floral Haven Funeral Home and Cemetery were in charge of services.

James was born in Spiro, Okla., Nov. 27, 1923. He died Dec. 9, 2004 at Forest Hills Nursing Center.

He and his wife Lillian built a home in Melody Lane addition in 1966 and resided there until 2003 when they moved to Alterra Sterling Assisted Living Center. They moved to Forest Hills in August 2004.

James served as a special delivery postal carrier for 31 years and at the City of Tulsa Traffic Engineering Department for 10 years after being honorably discharged from the Army in 1946.

He is survived by his wife of the home, one sister, Dana Hurst of Billings, Okla., and one son, Curtis B. Ellis and wife Marcella of Jenks along with a host of "coffee drinking" friends and loved ones.

Services for Lillian M. Ellis, 79, longtime Jenks resident, were at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8 at the South Tulsa Baptist Church. Floral Haven Funeral Home and Cemetery were in charge of the services.

Lillian was born in Tulsa, April 8, 1926. She died Aug. 4, 2005 at Forest HIlls Nursing Center.

She and her husband, Jim, built a home in Melody Lane Addition in 1966 and resided there until 2003 when they moved to Alterra Sterling Assisted Living Center. They moved to Forest Hills in August 2004.

After graduating from the Cadet Nurse Corps in 1948, Lillian served as a registered nurse for more than 40 years. Most of those years were spent working at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa.

Lillian leaves behind a host of friends and loved ones who miss her but know she is having a happy reunion with her "Jim" who went to be with the Lord in December.

Vivian graduated from Bixby High School, Class of 1957. She was Homemaker. Vivian resided in this area except for 5 years, she spent with her daughter in Tennessee. She was a member of the Redemption Life Center of Tulsa. Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, James Doyle Albey; and her husband, Billy A. Ely in 1987. Vivian is survived by 1 daughter, Chaundra Ely Bush of Murfreesboro, TN; 1 sister, Mildred Mason of Tulsa, OK; 1 granddaughter, Vivian; 3 nephews, Jerry, Terry and Kevin Mason. MOTHER SUCCUMBS TO INJURIES IN ACCIDENT THAT KILLED GIRL

The mother of a young girl who was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident in Cherokee County last weekend died Monday evening in a Tulsa hospital, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

Rebecca Ann Emery, 24, of Bixby died shortly after 5 p.m. at St. Francis Hospital, where her 3-year-old daughter, Rylee M. Emery, had died the day before, troopers said.

The two had been struck by a vehicle in a parking lot at Peyton's Place, a float-trip outfitter on Oklahoma 10 northeast of Tahlequah.

RAY ENGEL

Service for Ray Engel, 71, was 10 a.m. Wednesday at Jenks United Methodist Church. Rev. David Karges and Rev. Troy Hayes, officiated.

Burial followed at Calvary Cemetery, Tulsa. Arrangements were by Daniel C. Schaudt of Schaudt's Glenpool Funeral Service and Cremation Care.

Engel was born Aug. 23, 1933 in Tulsa, son of James Gomez Engel and Viola Crocket Engel.

He and Janice Wise were married Aug. 15, 1952.

Ray played professonal baseball in the fifties and came home to be a coach in Jenks in 1958. Some of his most cherished memories were the years he spent in Jenks Public Schools. After 35 years as a coach, teacher and counselor, he retired from Tulsa Public Schools in 1992.

He is survived by his wife; his daughters, Renae McGuire, Tammy Barnes, Donna Spencer and Paula Erwin and their husbands Jack McGuire, Johnny Barnes and Jeff Erwin; his brothers Albert and Dave Engel, their wives Nancy and Eloise; his siter, Bernice Boyd; his stepbrother Glenn Hall and wife Lomeda; his stepbrother in law Jim Hughes and his step-brother Earl Hall; 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Former area resident Fred Adrian England, 70, died Sept. 13, in Jackson, Mississippi.

England had previously been a member of Jenks First Baptist Church and a Tulsa resident.

Graveside services were held Sept. 18 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma, under the dirction of Moore's Southlawn Chapel.

He was born Sept. 9, 1929, in Muldrow, Oklahoma, and graduated from Oklahoma City University. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Mr. England was an entrepreneur in the insurance industry throughout the United States, s a commercial real estate developer, and was a quarterhorse and thoroughbred race horse owner and breeder.

Mr. England is survived by his widow, Linda A. England of the home; sons, Randall A. England of Beverly Hills, California, David L. England of Tulsa; and Lee C. England of Jackson, Mississippi; daughters, Linda S. Murdoch of Plano, Texas, and Leslie D. Zeegers of Ocala, Florda; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Mr. England was a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi.

Born Oct. 30, 19154 in Hot Spring, Ark. to Squire and Betty (Wallace) Ennis, Mrs. Bradley died on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000.

She moved to Jenks 50 years ago. She was a long time member of the Jenks Road Freewill Baptist Church.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Nathan Bradley, and two sons, Billy Acord and Elmer Pennington.

She is survived by one daugher, Lucille Garner and her husband Gerald, of Sperry; one son, Don Bradley and his wife Dolores of Jenks; one sister, Ruby Land of Royal, Ark.; two brothers, Earnest Ennis and Junior Ennis, both of Hot Springs; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, Gary Acord, Greg Acord, Scott Bradley, Earnest, Jr. Pennington, Elmer Pennington, Jr., Jess Barnes and Eric Barnes.

THREE PEOPLE DIE IN SEPARATE ROAD ACCIDENTS

Three people died in seperate crashes Thursday and Friday, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The dead were identified at Vincent R. Espinoza of Bixby, Darrell Gilmore of DeQueen, Ark., and James Howard Burris of Ada, OHP reports show.

Espinoza, 18, was killed in a crash just after 7 p.m. at the intersection of 151st Street and 161st East Avenue. Troopers found that Espinoza was driving a 1993 Grand Prix west on 151st Street when he failed to yeild at a stop sign, the report shows.

He was struck in the driver's side door by a vehicle that was traveling north. The woman driving that vehicle was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

Gilmore, 42, was fatally injured in a 9:21 p.m. crash in McCurtain County. He was driving a 1998 Ford pickup east on U.S. 70 about one mile east of Eagletown when he went left of center.

Gilmore swerved to the right to avoid an oncoming vehicle and then overcorrected before running off the roadway and striking a tree.

Gilmore was ejected from the pickup 31 feet. He was not wearing a seat belt, an accident report indicates.

Burris, 45, was likked in a two-vehicle crash in Byng, which is in Pontotoc County.

He was traveling north on U.S. 377 and had stopped to make a left turn when he was struck from behind by a car driven by Jerry Dean Goodman, the OHP report shows.

Goodman did not have any reported injuries, while Burris was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

He worked several years as a landscaper in the area until his health problems would not allow him to work any longer. Hobbies included hunting. He is survived by his mother, Ernestine Evans; his maternal grandmother, Lydia Sain; his wife, Taina Deanna Henderson Evans; one daughter, Danielle Nicole Evans; one son, Brett Keith Evans; one sister, Cindy Kerr; one brother, Mark Evans; two stepchildren, Brian Allen and Dee Dee Carr; one niece, Kristen Kerr; and one nephew, Andrew Kerr. He was preceded in death by his father. Services were under the direction of Leonard and Marker Funeral Home.

Bryan Keith Evans

Services were 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17 at Leonard and Marker Funeral Home Chapel for Bryan Keith Evans, 41. Interment was in Bixby Cemetery with Rev. Garnet Cole officiating.

Evans was born May 10, 19963 in Tulsa, son of Willis Edward and Ernestine Sain Evans. He died Dec. 13, 2004 in Tulsa.

A graduate of Jenks High School, he had lived in Jenks virtually all of his life. He worked for several years as a landscaper. He loved hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Taina Deanna, a daughter, Danielle Nicole, a son Brett Keith, his mother, his maternal grandmother, Lydia Sain of Tulsa, a sister, Cindy Kerr of Glenpool, a brother, Mark Evans of Tulsa, two step-children Brian Allen and Dee Dee Carr and several other more distant relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Casket bearers were Phil Stephens, Bob Orman, Eric Stephens, Dan Jones, Ron English and Jeremy Jones.

Services for Tom B. Everett of Benton were held Feb. 26 in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Benton, Ark. with Dr. Bernes Selph, retired pastor and Rick Grant, associate pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial followed at the New Rosemont Cemetery.

Everett was born to William Jerome and Kathleen Love Dunlap Everett in Dallas County, Ark., near Chapel Hill. He died Feb. 22 at the age of 92, in Tulsa, where he was living with his son, Clyde Thomas Everett.

Everett was a member of the FBC of Benton for more than 60 years. He served the church as deacon, a Sunday school teacher and assistant treasurer. He worked for the J.B. Pearson Company for several years, Blakley's Feed and Grocery for 20 years and the Lewis Lumber Company for a number of years. He retired from Benton State Bank at the age of 83 after 30 years with the bank.

Survivors include: his wife of 66 years, Gladys Walden Everett of Tulsa; one sister, Bertie Simmons of Malvern, Ark.; two sons, Tom Everett of Tulsa dnd Dr. Wayne Everett of Arkadelphia; four grandsons, Greg Everett of Sonora, Calif., Mark Everett and Doug Everett, both of Tulsa and Keith Everett of Arkadelphia, Ark.; three great granddaughters and one great grandson.
