BETHANY SUSAN SMITH

--- Christmas Poem Written in 1995 At The Age of 12, While Attending Okay Public Schools, Okay, Wagoner County, Oklahoma

Christmas lights all aglow and gifts under the tree;
Children at the toy store are filled with Christmas glee
Old familiar Christmas songs, sounding new once more;
Beautiful Christmas wreaths hung carefully on every door.
Cookies in the oven, warm and spicy sweet,
Gingerbread boys and creamy fudge, all for us to eat.
Little ones on Santa's knee want dolls and teddy bears
While their exhausted parents wrap every gift with care.

All these things and so much more mean Christmas time to me,
But we all need to remember when we see gifts under our tree
That the Baby in the manger is what Christmas is about.
God sent His only Son to us, which we should never doubt.
So when you look at Santa Claus, remember Who should be
In every heart at Christmas time -- God's Gift to you and me!
