JESSE "JESSIE" VAN HORN

JESSE "JESSIE" VAN HORN, son of George Layfayette, son of John C. Van Horne, was born February 18, 1883 in Fontana, Miami County, Kansas and died on March 13, 1963 in Osawatomie, Miami County, Kansas.

Jesse Van Horn married Rose C. (or Rosa L.) Coleman, daughter of Levi Coleman and Martha Lovelace.

Children of Jesse Van Horn and Rose Coleman are:

1. Maxine Van Horn, who married Max Lee.

2. Edna Van Horn, who married Ralph Croan.


OBITUARY FOR JESSE VAN HORN

FINAL RITES ARE HELD FOR JESSE VAN HORN, 80

Final rites for Jesse Van Horn, 80, were Saturday in the Birchard Funeral Home. Van Horn died March 13 at the Osawatomie Rest Home.

He was born Feb. 18, 1883, and was the son of George and Margaret Ann Van Horn. He was a member of the Baptist church. His wife, Rose, and one brother, Fred, preceded him in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Max Lee of Louisburg and Mrs. Ralph Croan of Paola; two brothers, Roy of Van Buren, Ark., and James W. of Osawatomie; one sister, Mrs. Mamie Mallory of Ottawa; five grandsons and one granddaughter, and three great grandchildren.

The Rev. George Snyder officiated at the 2 p.m. services. Music was provided by Mrs. Ida Phares. Pallbearers were Vernon Van Horn, Jack Van Horn, Jim Van Horn, Robert L. Croan, Roger Croan and Donald Croan. Burial was in the Osawatomie Cemetery.

Moon, Paola, Mrs. May Andrews, Topeka; three brothers, Roy Coleman, Basin, Wyo., John Coleman, Tonganoxie, Kansas, Towney Coleman, Peculiar, Missouri, 5 grandsons, 1 granddaughter. Rose preceded in death by 7 brothers and 7 sisters. Rev. Howard Johnson - Pastor Presbyterian Church.
