Joseph Gannett was born on September 3, 1693 in Scituate, Massachusetts.⁴
He was the son of Joseph Gannett Sr. and Deborah Coombs.^2,3
Under the will of his grandfather, Matthew Gannett, he inherited half of the lands of the immigrant ancestor, Thomas, such lands being located at Bridgewater, in 1713, where he settled with his brother, Matthew, who had inherited from the same source, the other half of these lands.⁵
Joseph married Hannah Hayward, daughter of Jonathan Hayward and Hannah Hobart, on November 25, 1717 in Braintree, Massachusetts, by the Rev. Mr. Samuel Niles, as his first wife.⁶
Joseph married Hannah Brett in 1732 as his second wife.⁵
Joseph died on April 30, 1774 in Bridgewater, Massachusetts, at age 80.⁵
He and Hannah Hayward were buried in Old Graveyard, East Bridgewater, Massachusetts.⁷
