- He was the son of Augustus Roys and Lucy Smith.
- He launched out in the leather business, and nearly bankrupted his father.1
- Erastus Roys married Margaret Carroll on 9 August 1852 in Saint Louis, St. Louis County, Missouri. They were married by John Vogel, Justice of the Peace.2
