- 23 August 1860, a quitclaim was filed on land the north half of lot no. 37 in the 3rd division, Sweden, Oxford County, Maine. This was the land that George W. Hale had sold to Sally Hale in 1852. As she had died in 1858, all adult descendants signed a quitclaim to transfer ownership of the so-called "Bradstreet Lot" to Charles Hale. These descendants were Elbridge G. Hale an his wife Lucy H. Hale of Cambridge, MA; William Langley and his wife Asineth, of Somerset, MA; Horace A. Sawyer and his wife Sarah. of Lynn, MA; Lovista L. Young, a single woman; George W. Hale and his wife Clara A., of Waterford; John R. Hale and wife Eleanor; George Kneeland and wife Susan, of Lincoln, ME; and William Langley II and wife Anna, of New York City.
Charles sold this land for months later on 15 Dec 1860 to John B. Sanderson, yeoman, of Waterford.9 - Charles Hale died on 22 May 1863 at age 75.10
