Important changes are in store for Texas researchers, according to Erica McKewen of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission. Beginning in September 2007, the Lorenzo de Zavala State Archives and Library Building, home of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission, will start renovations that are expected to continue for two years. While renovations are being carried out, services will be limited, some materials will be stored offsite, and part of the collection will be inaccessible. During construction the building will remain open unless unforeseen circumstances cause it to be closed for brief periods. Researchers are urged to call ahead (phone 512-463-5455) when planning a trip to the facility. If notice is given in advance, records that have been moved offsite can be retrieved. Court records and law libraries will be the main themes of the seminar sponsored by the South Plains Genealogical Society (SPGS) on September 22, 2007. It will take place from 8:30 a. m. to 4:00 p. m. at the First Methodist Church, 1411 Broadway (at Avenue M), Lubbock, TX.
Featured speaker will be Bill Utterback, a certified genealogist from Amarillo. His topics will include will and estate records, probate, bonds, chancery/equity cases, state statute/session laws, and appellate court case files. He will also present information about legal terminology and the location of record collections and case files.
Registration fees prior to September 15 are $30 for society members and $35 for non-members. After that date, the fee will be $40. Checks, payable to SPGS Seminar, may be mailed to P. O. Box 6607, Lubbock, TX 79493.

Her parents were James BOGARD and Melinda TIPPETT/TIPPIT. Johannes also seeks data about Mary Malena HERBERT, who married Richard Louis ROBERTS.
