     This week we have more selected items from the “Drug Store Happenings” section of the September 1929 (Volume 50, Number 4) edition of The Texas Druggist. (Some punctuation may be added or deleted in the narrative for clarity. Surnames are capitalized for emphasis.)

     Page 52 – “The drug store of F. R. DECORDOVA of Collinsville was partially destroyed by fire early Tuesday morning, Sept. 3rd. Trainmen on a passing Katy train discovered the blaze. The loss was partially covered by insurance.

     John WEEKS of Ballinger recently opened a new drug store in the new Hilton Hotel at San Angelo....

     The Nunnally Candy Company of Atlanta, Ga., has opened a complete candy department in the Williams-Burgess Drug Store in Paris. Miss Carom (sic) BUSTER, who has completed a factory course in Nunnally’s factory, will be in charge.

     W. S. MURRAY, former manager of Edinburg Drug Store No. 1, has left Edinburg for Fort Worth to take charge of a drug store there, owned by Lloyd P. BLOODWORTH. John BOX, who recently sold his drug store No. 2, will be in active charge of Edinburg Drug Store No. 1.

     Monday, May 27th, marked the opening of Wellington’s newest drug store.... The Arcade Drug Store, which is located in the front portion of the new post office building, is owned by Joe HARDY and will be managed by Davis ROBINSON.

     George A. Thomas and Sons Drug Store at Cameron has been moved into the new building completed by Dr. Elbra MONROE....

     The Edinburg Music Shoppe, the Edinburg Drug Store No. 2 (recently purchased from John BOX by W. LUSK of Wichita Falls), and the Parks (sic) Drug Co. changed places of business about the first of September.

     The Music Shoppe moved into quarters of the Edinburg Drug Store and Lusk took the space formerly occupied by the Park (sic) Drug Company, who moved to a new building finished just east of the city limits of McAllen.”

     Page 53 – “W. K. QUINN of Goose Creek has opened a new store at Baytown.

     Tom WATSON has accepted a position at the City Drug Store at Rule.

     Cash Drug Store at Lufkin has opened for business. Homer ROGERS is manager.

     Dr. A. H. BRIDGEFARMER’s drug store at Melissa was destroyed by fire, Aug. 10th.

     Joe COBB of Franklin recently purchased the Marshall Drug Store of that city.

     Carl ALEXANDER has been appointed manager of Corner Drug Store No. 2 at Lockhart.

     Eusie TURNEY of Turkey has accepted a position with the Randall Drug Store at Amarillo as prescription clerk.

     Mrs. Taylor KING has accepted a position with the Eagle Pharmacy at Alice, having severed her connections with the Texas State Bank.

     The Stokes-Alexander Drug Co. of Littlefield have installed one of the mammoth Frigidaire refrigerating systems in their place of business.

     Rayford CLARK, of the Clark’s Drug Store No. 1 at Greenville, has had a number of changes made in the interior of their store....

     Mr. and Mrs. J. J. MONTGOMERY and daughter of Laredo have recently moved to Ralls, where Mr. Montgomery has accepted a position with the Cole Drug Company.”
