     Here are more selected items from the “Drug Store Happenings” section of the September 1929 (Volume 50, Number 4) edition of The Texas Druggist. (Some punctuation may be added or deleted in the narrative for clarity. Surnames are capitalized for emphasis.)

     Page 53 – “Tom WARREN, prominent pharmacist of Greenville, who for several years has been connected with Clark’s Drug Store, has gone to Dallas, where he has accepted a position with Skillern’s.

     Curtis B. GLOVER, who for the past six years has been employed at the City Drug Store at Deport, has resigned to go to Dallas, where he has accepted a position with a large drug company.

     In the national window trimming contest by the Nyal Co., the sixth prize was awarded to the Walter’s Pharmacy, and C. A. ECHOLS of the Lubbock Drug Co. received favorable mention.

     Herbert A. REID was recently elected manager of the two corner drug stores at Lockhart, owned by the Lockhart Drug Company. He succeeds his father, J. A. REID, who recently died with apoplexy.

     O. E. KIRTLEY of Taft has been making more room in his drug store, installing two new sections of wall cases and a display case. He is preparing for the fall rush that attends cotton picking in that section.

     W. B. ROGERS and Miss LILA MAE MODISETTE were married at Mansfield, La., on the 24th of the past June. The bride is one of the charming girls of Huntington, having been a teacher in the public schools there the past year.

     A deal has been consumated (sic) whereby A. F. SASSER and E. P. PARK become owners of the Campbell Drug Store and the two stores at Nixon will be merged into one. The change will be completed in the future. In the meantime, both stores will be operated under the new ownership.

     Corpus Christi is to be headquarters for a $1,000,000 Texas Drug store chain, operating 100 stores in this state. R. M. WILLIS, president and general manager of the Star Drug stores in Corpus Christi, and Edward PHILLIPS, head of the Edwards System, chain store efficiency engineers, are the promoters of the enterprise.

     Crocker’s Pharmacy, owned and operated by E. B. CROCKER, has been moved to Corpus Christi from Robstown and is now open for business in the corner space of the Aztec building. The personnel of the store will include two registered druggists and one assistant. Mrs. CROCKER will assist her husband in operation of the store.

     W. F. ALLISON of Sulphur Springs has bought the Douthit Drug Store at Raymondville. Mrs. F. A. DOUTHIT and son, Harry, who have managed this business since the death of Mr. Douthit early in the spring, will continue to make their home in Raymondville. Mr. Allison will be assisted in the management of the drug store by his brother-in-law, W. R. (Dick) PETERS, who also hails from Sulphur Springs.

     Two thieves entered the rear of Webb Brothers drug store at Arlington at about 11:25, Tuesday night, August 16th, by forcing the door and took more than $1,800 worth of jewelry from the counters, consisting chiefly of diamond
rings and watches. Officers...caught one of the two in Dallas [on] Wednesday. He proved to be Jack REYNOLDS, a local man, who had operated the White Cottage tourist camp....Reynolds confessed the crime and led Sheriff ‘Red’ WRIGHT to the spot where the loot was hid (sic).”
