If you are searching for a good gift for genealogists in your family, the new QuickSheet: Citing Ancestry Databases & Images Evidence Style by Elizabeth Shown Mills may be just what you need. In this second, revised edition, Mills makes modifications to reflect technological changes affecting the field of family history during the past few years. Following her template model used in the previous edition, she updates sample citations and styles to help researchers more accurately document information found on the internet.

Based on the premise that online sources are publications sharing the same characteristics as printed works, her QuickSheet on Ancestry databases and images furnishes citation examples that show the proper way to document common internet resources such as digital books and articles, images of censuses and vital records, and databases. To cover the different situations where material needs to be documented, she presents examples in three styles: source list entry, full reference note, and short reference note.

Useful to amateur and experienced genealogists alike, QuickSheet provides documentation details not found in standard citation guides. The arrangement of examples makes finding them easy. With the material in folder form, the laminated template can be stood up or lain down, making it convenient for immediate reference at home or at the library. In addition, its lamination prevents it from tearing and keeps it clean and readable. QuickSheet: Citing Ancestry Databases & Images Evidence Style is a handy tool that can be easily packed and transported to any research site.

The QuickSheet for Ancestry (order number 3879) cost $11.25 each. To the price of the publication, buyers should add the cost for postage and handling charges. For U. S. postal mail, the cost is $4 for one item and $1.50 for each additional copy; for orders totaling $10 or less, the cost is $2.00. For UPS, the cost is $6 for one copy and $2.50 for each additional copy; on orders totaling $10.00 or less, the cost is $6.00. The reference guide may be purchased by check, MasterCard, or Visa from Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc., 3600 Clipper Mill Rd., Suite 260, Baltimore, Maryland 21211 (for phone orders call toll free 1-800-296-6687; fax 1-410-752-8492; website www.genealogical.com).

The Timen Stiddem Society is composed of descendants of Timen Stiddem, who settled in New Sweden (now Wilmington), Delaware, in 1654. Stiddem, born about 1617 and died in 1686, was one of the first Swedish immigrants to America. Anglicizing his name to Timothy Stidham, he was employed by the Swedish crown as a barber-surgeon and is recognized as the first physician in what is now the state of Delaware. Alternate spellings of the STIDHAM surname include STEADHAM, STEDHAM, STIDAM, STIDDEM, and STEDDOM.

Anyone who descends from an individual carrying the surname is invited to become a member. The annual dues include a subscription to the organization's many times award-winning quarterly newsletter. Since the practice of marrying within a specific social or ethnic group was common in New Sweden, many of Timen’s offspring also descend from other early settlers in the area. As a result, the informative and attractive newsletter has begun including articles about closely related families, such as SPRINGER, STALCOP, THORSSON, and TUSSEY in addition to all types of materials concerning the various Stiddem lines.

To join the association, annual dues of $20, payable to the Timen Stidden Society, may be mailed to Kay Wootten-Schechinger, TTS membership secretary, 181 Westminster Dr., Apt. 2-C, Dover, Delaware 19904. For more information about the society, go to the website at www.timenstiddemsociety.org or www.stidhamfamilytree.com.
