Over the course of time, natural disasters have affected the lives of many of the world’s population at some point. When calamities happen, whether near or far, good people respond to help as much as they can. Proof of such efforts can be found on pages 22-25 of OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS OF THE FORTY-THIRD ANNUAL CONVENTION OF THE TEXAS PHARMACEUTICAL ASSOCIATION, HELD IN FORT WORTH, TEXAS, JUNE 13, 14, AND 15, 1922. (The page showing publication data is missing from the copy at hand, but the material may have been printed in Fort Worth about 1922. Surnames are capitalized for emphasis. Some punctuation may be changed for clarity.)
A destructive flood occurred in San Antonio, Texas, on 9 September 1921. As a result, W. Arthur SKILLERN, President of the Texas Pharmaceutical Association, issued a stirring appeal to druggists in the Lone Star State for contributions to be sent to their fellow druggists who suffered loss due to the high water.
This week “Kinsearching” begins a list of names of people who sent money, usually in the amount of $2.50, though a few sums were higher. As the various places of residence show, donations came from all over the state. (Entries which give incomplete names of individuals or only the name of an establishment are omitted.)
