Time is fast approaching for the family reunion of descendants of Andrew STRAIN and Mary REED. The 77th annual gathering will take place on 18 July 2010 at the Sugar Valley Baptist Church in Sugar Valley, GA. For more information about the meeting, get in touch with the Strain Family Association, 1508 Dug Gap Road, Dalton, Georgia 30720 or e-mail Lester Strain at [email protected].

In addition, the association is in the process of compiling information for a new edition of the Strain family history book. Old photographs will be scanned at the reunion because new copies of the pictures used in the first edition are needed. Persons attending will want to bring updated family data, such as copies of obituaries of deceased relatives. Individuals who cannot go to the meeting can send information and pictures to Jim Parker, family historian, at [email protected].

On 24 July 2010, the First Families of Nacogdoches Reunion will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nacogdoches, TX. Descendants of such families as Y’BARBO, CORDOVA, ARRIOLA, MENCHACA, LAZARINE, STERNE, KILLOUGH, DE LOS SANTOS COY, SANCHES, SCROGGINS, POSKEY, LOZANO, SEPULVEDA, LUNA, CRUZE, ACOSTA, MOLANDES, MONTES, and many others are expected to attend. Anyone interested in the history of the town, often called “the gateway to Texas,” is also invited to come. Participants are encouraged to bring copies of family stories and pictures, genealogical data, favorite recipes, and a covered dish to share. Plans include offering door prizes and raffles, games, live entertainment, and an exhibit of local history and genealogical books. For additional details or RSVP, call or e-mail Deena Wadsworth at 903-872-6140 (e-mail [email protected]).

Bonnie Bright Johannes, 5594 North 10th, Apt. 103, Fresno, CA 93710-6586 (e-mail: [email protected]) would appreciate information about her maternal cousins, the LAMBERT and HOLT families who moved from Alabama to Love Co., OK, by 1900. Johannes is especially interested in relatives of Albert TERRY and Myrtle HOLT. Their daughter, Helen TERRY, married Gus LESTER. Did they have any children? In the 1960s and 1970s, they resided in the Chickasha, OK, area where Gus may have died in the 1970s.

Johannes also seeks details about the children of Alberta TERRY and her husband. A son was probably in Washington and a daughter was in another state. What were their names?

Now we continue the list of the names of “members present and registered” found on pages 23-25 in the publication, TRANSACTIONS OF THE TEXAS STATE MEDICAL ASSOCIATION, TWENTY-FOURTH ANNUAL SESSION HELD AT TYLER, TEXAS, APRIL 26, 27, AND 28, 1892 (Galveston: J. W. Burson Co., Printers and Publishers, 1892). The roster furnishes the person’s name, post office (in Texas unless otherwise specified), and county.
