The data below comes from pages 1-3 of the MINUTES OF THE THIRTY-FIRST ANNUAL SESSION OF THE BAPTIST STATE CONVENTION OF TEXAS, HELD WITH THE BAPTIST CHURCH, AT LA GRANGE, TEXAS, COMMENCING OCT. 5TH, AND ENDING OCT. 7TH, 1878. The pamphlet was printed in Houston at the office of the Texas Baptist Herald in 1878. Researchers familiar with Baptist history in the Lone Star State will recognize in the material famous names, such as Z. N. Morrell and George Washington Baines, as well as names of individuals associated with Baylor University, like William Carey Crane. (Surnames are capitalized for emphasis and some punctuation may have been added for clarity.)
President William Carey CRANE "in the Chair" called the convention to order at 10:30 a. m. Elder Z. N. MORRILL (sic) led the prayer. "Brethren" HARRIS, PICKETT, and W. H. DODSON called for and read letters from various churches and associations. Names enrolled and recognized as convention members were as follows:
