This week we conclude extracting information from the 30 April 1936 issue of the Shelby County newspaper, the Center Daily News, published in Center, Texas. (Surnames are capitalized for emphasis. Some punctuation may be changed for clarity.)
The items below can be found in the column titled “South Paxton News.”
“Mr. and Mrs. Asa STONER, Mr. and Mrs. Elton STONE and daughter, Shirley Ann, of Pine Ridge community, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. S. H. DAVIS.
Mrs. Sara Elizabeth HUTTO was given a birthday dinner at the home of her son, Ezra HUTTO. A bountiful meal was spread to sixty-three visitors.
Mrs. Ralph JOPLIN and children were visitors in Tenaha, Monday.”
This issue of the newspaper also contained this “for rent” ad: “Two nicely furnished apartments. Close in. Mrs. Annie MACKECHNEY, 312 Austin St.”
