Lennart F. LaGreen, 99, of Porter Ranch passed Thursday, June 27 at his home. He was born on Sept 19, 1913, in Elk (Mendocino County) California to Julia and Frank LaGreen. His older sister, Myrtle of Fort Bragg and San Francisco, preceded him in death. His family moved to Ft. Bragg when he was 9; graduated from Fort Bragg High School and attended San Jose State. He worked for the Union Lumber Company, Rockport Redwood Company, and Union Oil Company of California in Fort Bragg. He entered the US Army in 1941, and was a Chief Warrant Officer with the 40th Field Artillery and 298th Engineering Battalion. He served throughout the European theater including the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He married Mary Cassara November 18, 1945 in San Fernando. He was a business owner in the Lake View Terrace area of the San Fernando Valley for over 30 years, and in partnership with his brother-in-law, John Cassara, operated the Cassara and LaGreen Union 76 station and the Lake View Terrace Store, two of the first businesses in the area. He retired in 1976. A good part of his retirement was spent golfing and fishing throughout California, especially on the Klamath River. He was an avid gardener and attended many reunions of his US Army Unit. He leaves his wife of 67 years, Mary, and son Alan LaGreen, Daughter-in-law Wendy LaGreen, and granddaughter Cara LaGreen and grandson Gavin Barnett, all of Orange County.
