CAPTAIN THOMAS WAILEHUA SILVA
Captain Thomas Wailehua Silva, aka �Babe� Silva, passed at the age of 94 years. Born January 13, 1916, passed June 25, 2010. A resident of Waianae. Survived by his wife of 64 years, Elizabeth Nani Silva; children, Winona Brown, Kathleen Dehne, Thomas W. Silva, Jr., and Franklin Silva. 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He lived a wonderful, fulfilling life. In his younger days, he enjoyed life as a local beach boy while he worked for the Honolulu Advertiser. He joined the military in 1941 where he served in the war as an Army combat engineer. Captain Silva became a prisoner of war in 1944. He returned home 9 months later and continued to serve until 1952, finishing his service in the National Guard. Thomas and Elizabeth married in 1946, starting their family. In 1954 the family relocated to California where Thomas pursued a successful business career. Gaining a great deal of knowledge in his years at Dominque�s Waterworks, he started his own business, Sil Supply Co., a pipe supply business. He brought his success back to Hawaii where he continued with his next business venture, Wai Utility Co. Thomas retired at 72 years of age. He lived the last 22 years to the fullest spending quality time with his family and friends. Memorial service and a celebration of Thomas� life will be held at the Elks Lodge, Waikiki on Thursday, August 12, 2010. Arrangements by: Ultimate Cremation Services of Hawaii.
