82. Johnathan (John) William Poynter
Granted 100 acres in Lincoln County, KY on 12 Oct 1786. John is said to have been a native of England and a contemporary of John Wesley, the two having come to America about the same time. He became a pioneer in Lincoln County, KY near Crab Orchard where he reclaimed a farm from the wilderness and where he passed the remainder of his life. He was imbued with the full measure of English love of hunting and in the pioneer state he adopted, he found ample opportunities for indulging himself in this sport and pasttime. Note: Note: John William Poynter was listed on the 1800 Tax List of Lincoln County, KY.
Resided in 1820 in Cave Spring Township, Roanoke County, Virginia. Buried at the Conrad Miller Family Cemetery, Spring Creek Township, Roanoke, Virginia. Conrad and Mary Surface were farmers in Rockingham and in 1820 they moved to Cave Spring, Roanoke County, VA., where he engaged in farming and operated a tannery.
