192. Mathias (Matthias) (Michael) Miller
Mathias Miller, son of Jacob and Catherine Charlotte Miller, was born in Berks County, Pennsilvania on October 18, 1743 and moved to Rockingham County, Virginia in 1794-95. He was a revolutionary war solider. He married Susanna Catherine Miller, daugher of Michale and Mary Catherine Miller about 1760, his first wife. He married three times after his first wife died, his last wife being Maria Schaeffer, nee Moyer, widow of Peter Schaeffer. Mathias Miller was a communicant of Rader's Lutheran Church near Timberville, Virginia. He died in December 1805 and is buried in the old cemetery of Rader's Church. He was the father of 17 children. Michael Miller was a son of Mathias. Leslie A. Miller Governor of Wyoming is a descendant of Mathias Miller.
Mathias Miller and his wife are both buried at Rader's Church near Timberville, Virginia. The Miller in company with George Trout and family moved from Rockingham County, Virginia to Botetourte County, later Roanoke County and settled between Roanoke and Salem, Virginia where they lived on adjourning farms. Their family cemetery where they are buried is on the boundary between the two farms and will always remain in possession of the Miller and Trout families. The cemetery name is Rader Cemetery.Matthias was named by his father in Pennsylvania as executor of his will. He served in the PA Malitia during the Revolutionary War as a private. About 1794 he sold his farm in PA and moved to Fort Run near Timberville, VA where he bought a farm from Anthony Rader. He was an active member of the Rader Lutheran Church. Many of his 17 children moved to Rockingham County, VA before or soon after he died and began to buy land in their names. Matthias and many of his descendants are buried in the old cemetery at Rader Church.
