Information about Charles H. Foster's death

From the History of Cherokee County by McCulla, S. J Clark Publishing Co, 1914 Page 389.

The writer, in looking over inquests held in this county, found on Feb. 9. 1900, Charles H. Foster, aged eighty-six years, had died of heart failure, according to the verdict, "brought on by excessive use of hom e grown tobacco." Just how long this man might have lived had he refrained from the use of "home grown tobacco" will, of course, be a matter of speculation, but the inference is that he might have lived to a ripe old age.

Sudden Death.

Charles H. Foster Passes Away Near Larrabee.

Charles H. Foster, who lived about two and a half miles southwest of Larrabee, died very suddenly on Friday morning. He was apparently in his usual good health and had been out shoveling snow. After his return to the house he suddenly expired. The deceased was born at Canterbury, H. H., and had been a resident of Iowa since 1872. He was twice married and was the father of three children, none of whom survives him. The funeral occurred on Sunday.
